Rubyshell Krolusk
Overview

Rubyshell Krolusk is a rare Horde ground mount added to World of Warcraft in the "Tides of Vengeance" update (patch 8.1) of the Battle for Azeroth expansion on December 11, 2018. It is a massive fiery-red krolusk clad in heavy plated armor, captured in the sands of Vol'dun.
The mount is sold by Provisioner Mukra in the Port of Zandalar in Dazar'alor for 200 Honorbound Service Medals. The medals are the currency of the Honorbound faction, earned on warfronts, from world quests in contested zones, and during faction assaults.
An important feature: when you purchase the Rubyshell Krolusk on a Horde character, all of your Alliance characters automatically receive its blue counterpart — the
Azureshell Krolusk. So a single purchase adds two mounts to your account collection at once.
Why You Want This Mount
- Unique krolusk model — a huge armored scorpion-beetle with a bright red shell that stands out among the Zandalari krolusks. There are only a few krolusks in the collection, and this one is among the most recognizable
- Two mounts for one purchase — the acquisition automatically adds the
Azureshell Krolusk to every Alliance character on your account - Speed 10 out of 10 — the mount grants +60% or +100% to ground movement speed depending on your riding skill, meaning it travels at maximum ground speed
- Requires no rare drops — a fully guaranteed mount for currency, with no RNG and no waiting for lucky drops
- Account-wide access — after purchase the mount appears in the collection of all Horde characters, regardless of class and race
- Cleared via old content — Battle for Azeroth warfronts at level 90 are completed quickly and almost solo, and the medals drop in generous batches
How to Reach the Vendor
Provisioner Mukra stands in the Port of Zandalar in Dazar'alor, next to the warfront table and the rest of the Honorbound vendors.
- Get to Dazar'alor — through the portal in the orc capital of Orgrimmar or via a Zandalar Hearthstone if you have one
- Head down to the lower part of the city, to the docks — the port is in the northeastern part of the capital, at water level
- Find the warfront table — a cluster of Honorbound NPCs gathers around it, and Provisioner Mukra stands among them

How to Earn Honorbound Service Medals
The medals are a currency that accumulates through several channels at once. It is optimal to combine all available sources, in which case 200 medals are gathered in one to two weeks.
Warfronts
The main source of medals. In Battle for Azeroth two warfronts are available with a rotation of roughly once every two weeks:
- Battle for Darkshore — normal mode, 15 medals for the first victory of the week
- Heroic Battle for Darkshore — 50 medals for the first victory of the week
- Battle for Stromgarde — normal mode, 15 medals for the first victory of the week
- Heroic Battle for Stromgarde — added in patch 8.2, 15 medals for the first victory
To enter a warfront in normal mode it is enough to be level 35+. Heroic mode requires completing the normal version at least once.
World Quests in Contested Zones
When your faction controls Darkshore or Arathi, additional world quests appear in the zone. Each such quest grants a few medals on top of the usual reward.
Honorbound Assaults
In the zones of the core continent (Kul Tiras), Honorbound invasions launch regularly — short chains of 4 world quests, after which a final quest for 5 medals becomes available. The assaults change on a schedule, so check the map for your faction's crossed-swords icon.
Honorbound Paragon Caches
After reaching Exalted with the Honorbound you begin to receive paragon caches every 10,000 reputation. Each cache contains 20 medals plus a random reward.
Step-by-Step Plan for Obtaining the Mount
- Level a Horde character to 35+ (at the cap of 80 the process speeds up considerably)
- Complete the introductory Battle for Azeroth story campaign for the Horde to unlock Dazar'alor and access to the Honorbound
- Open the warfront table in the Port of Zandalar and check the current rotation — which warfront is active
- Complete the available warfront — normal mode for 15 medals, heroic for 50 medals (if available this week)
- While the warfront is in its preparation phase, pick up world quests in the corresponding zone — extra medals and reputation
- Finish off Honorbound assaults on Kul Tiras as they appear
- Repeat every week until you accumulate 200 medals
- Fly to the Port of Zandalar to Provisioner Mukra and buy the
Rubyshell Krolusk - On an Alliance character check the collection — the
Azureshell Krolusk will appear automatically
Farm Optimization
Time Calculation
With an average earning of 70–90 medals per week (heroic warfront + normal warfront + world quests + assaults), the mount takes two weeks on a single character. If you are Exalted with the Honorbound and paragon caches are accumulating, you can close it out in a week.
Multi-Farming on Alts
The medals are personal — not bound to the account. Several Horde characters mean several sets of weekly rewards. However, the purchase requires 200 medals on one character, so it is wiser to focus on your main.
Quest Priority
- Heroic warfront (if active) — 50 medals in 20 minutes. The fastest medal in the game
- Normal warfront — 15 medals in 25–30 minutes solo at level 80
- Honorbound assaults — 5 medals for a short chain of 4 world quests + a final mission
- World quests in contested zones — 1–3 medals per quest, best done in a batch while the zone is under control
Checking the Warfront Rotation
Warfronts change on Blizzard's fixed schedule; without tracking the timetable it is easy to miss heroic week. Check the warfront table in Dazar'alor every Tuesday after the reset — it immediately shows whether the epic version of Darkshore is available.
Tips
Stock up in advance at Exalted — if you have already reached Exalted with the Honorbound, world quests in contested zones keep granting reputation, filling paragon caches with 20 medals each
The heroic warfront is the most rewarding medal — a single victory in heroic Darkshore yields a quarter of the mount's cost. It is worth waiting for the right week for it
Don't forget about warfront gear — item level 425 from the heroic warfront is no longer relevant in The War Within, but you can comfortably enter a warfront in ordinary level 80 gear and mow down every opponent
Don't confuse the currency — the Honorbound medals are needed specifically by the Horde. A purchase on one side unlocks the other faction's mount automatically
A warfront is soloable without a group — at level 80 even a normal warfront is steamrolled without support, but the queue still forms like a raid. Sometimes you have to wait for a group of 20 to assemble
A paired mount, paired achievements — the purchase counts toward the shared account mount collection and other quantity-based achievements
Whether to rush — the warfronts aren't going anywhere and the medals keep being handed out. If getting the mount this week isn't critical for you, it's worth waiting for the heroic Darkshore rotation to make the farm as fast as possible
