Overview

Ruinous Gutripper

Game iconRuinous Gutripper is an epic one-handed dagger from the Hellfire Citadel raid, the final raid of the Warlords of Draenor expansion (patch 6.2.0). It is a melee raid weapon with rogue stats: agility, stamina, critical strike rating and mastery.

Even though the weapon itself is long outdated in terms of power, its appearance remains in demand for transmogrification: the green glow makes the dagger stand out in any fel-themed set and pairs well with Burning Legion armor.

Source

The Ruinous Gutripper drops from Kilrogg Deadeye, one of the bosses of the Hellfire Citadel raid. The fortress sits in the center of Tanaan Jungle on Draenor.

  • The boss is located in the "Bloodthirsty Wing" area; the coordinates of the raid zone entrance are /way #7545 51.2 33.4.
  • The dagger drops on Normal, Heroic and Mythic difficulties — all three variants grant the same appearance and differ only in item level.
  • The drop chance is about 11 % per kill, and loot is distributed among the rogues in the group.
  • On Raid Finder difficulty, Kilrogg Deadeye drops the Game iconBalanced Machete dagger — it has a different look in the style of PvP rewards rather than a fel-fire model.
  • The raid can be soloed without trouble: a character of level 60 or higher from a modern expansion kills the wing's bosses in a few hits.

To reach the raid, build a harbor in your garrison and travel to Tanaan Jungle. The garrison hearthstone or a direct flight from Lion's Watch or Vol'mar brings you to the entrance point in a couple of minutes.

Who it suits visually

  • Suits fel-themed sets — it matches demonic-style armor and green light sources.
  • Harmonizes with plate and leather gear in dark tones, where the blade's green glow works as an accent.
  • Complements looks built around the Burning Legion and demon hunting — especially for rogues and demon hunters with paired daggers.
  • Contrasts with the light armor of a paladin or priest type — a debatable but striking choice for an unconventional appearance.
  • Looks great paired with another fel-fire dagger from Hellfire Citadel for a symmetrical set.

Tips

1

Farm Kilrogg Deadeye once a week — the boss kill lock is personal for each difficulty, so in a single run you can kill him on Normal, Heroic and Mythic modes in a row.

2

Launch the raid through the dungeon finder interface in raid mode, or enter it the usual way — a solo entry does not require a group.

3

Bring a rogue for farming: the dagger is distributed by specialization, and on a character of the right class the chance to get exactly it is higher.

4

A legacy loot system is in effect: in raids from past expansions bosses drop more items, which speeds up collecting the appearance.

5

In the same run you can gather an item level 18 armor set and hunt the ability_mount_felreavermountFelsteel Annihilator mount from the raid's final boss on Mythic difficulty.

6

If the dagger does not drop — try again on the next weekly reset; there is no limit on the number of farming weeks.

7

To move quickly between bosses, use classes with high mobility — this shortens the time to clear the "Bloodthirsty Wing" area.
