Rusty Captain's Hook — Transmog Set Guide

Rusty Captain's Hook is a one-handed fist weapon added in the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It is a pirate boarding hook made of darkened, rust-touched iron with a rough leather wrap on the grip — a vivid nod to the buccaneers stranded on the islands.

Unlike purely cosmetic illusions, this is a full equippable item with a fist-weapon model: the appearance is added to your collection as soon as you take the hook in hand. Thanks to its strong nautical theme, it perfectly rounds out the looks of pirates, corsairs, and salty old sea dogs for whom classic blades look far too formal.

The hook drops from Battle for Azeroth island expeditions — dynamic three-player scenarios where two teams compete for azerite. All expedition loot, including transmog weapons, is awarded randomly at the end of the run, so the most reliable way to farm is on Mythic difficulty: the chance for rare loot is higher there.

There is also a more targeted method. This appearance is part of the loot table for the island of The Rotting Mire and can be found in the Rotting Mire Salvage cache. Such caches are sold for Seafarer's Dubloons — the internal currency of the expeditions. Dubloons drop directly on the islands and from reward chests at the end of the run, and caches with loot from a specific island are bought from a ship vendor: for the Alliance it is Captain Nightcaller in Boralus, and for the Horde it is Captain Kitt in Zuldazar.

Buying the "Rotting Mire Salvage" specifically lets you farm the appearance in a targeted way instead of relying on random loot from any expedition.
