Sanctum Gloomcharger

The Sanctum Gloomcharger is a rare ground mount added in the Shadowlands expansion with the release of patch 9.1, "Chains of Domination." This sinister steed belongs to the family of Maw horse mounts and is rendered in dark tones with a purple glow. According to its mount journal description, "only the most powerful of the Jailer's lieutenants are granted these steeds to hunt within the halls of the Tower."

The mount drops at an extremely low rate from the Nine boss — the third encounter in the Sanctum of Domination raid. The drop is available on any difficulty: Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, or Mythic. This makes the mount one of the most time-consuming to target, since farming is limited by the weekly raid reset.

The mount drops as personal loot when you defeat the Nine boss in the Sanctum of Domination raid. The item appears directly in your bags and cannot be traded to other players.

1. Prepare a level 90 character
2. Make your way to the Sanctum of Domination raid entrance in the Maw
3. Enter the raid and select your desired difficulty
4. Defeat the first boss — Tarragrue
5. Defeat the second boss — the Eye of the Jailer
6. Defeat the third boss — the Nine
7. If the mount drops, the Sanctum Gloomcharger's Reins will appear in your bag automatically

At level 90, all three bosses are destroyed within seconds. A full run to the Nine takes no more than five minutes.

The Sanctum of Domination is located in the Maw — one of the zones of the Shadowlands.

Route via Oribos

1. From Stormwind or Orgrimmar, head to the portal room
2. Use the portal to Oribos
3. In Oribos, ascend to the upper level and jump into the central pit — you will arrive in the Maw
4. Move northeast through Desmotaeron toward coordinates 70, 32
5. The raid entrance is located at the rear of Torghast's Helgarde keep

Route via Korthia

1. From Oribos, use the flight master to travel to Korthia
2. From Korthia, head north into the Maw
3. Follow the path to Helgarde keep (coordinates 70, 32)

Multiple Difficulties per Week

The mount can drop on any difficulty, and each difficulty has its own separate weekly reset. This means you can get up to four attempts per week on a single character:

1. Raid Finder (via Ta'elgar in Oribos)
2. Normal difficulty
3. Heroic difficulty
4. Mythic difficulty

Using Alternate Characters

The most effective way to increase the number of attempts is to use multiple level 80 characters. Each character can clear the raid on all four difficulties per week. Ten characters yield forty attempts weekly, which significantly increases your chances of obtaining the mount.

Lockout Extension

To save time, you can use a raid lockout extension. Kill the first two bosses (Tarragrue and the Eye of the Jailer) on one character, then extend the lockout into the following week. This lets you start the run straight from the Nine, skipping the first two bosses.

Lockout Sharing

You can share a raid lockout with alternate characters. Enter the raid on the character with the extended lockout, invite the alternate character to the group, then log onto the alternate character and enter the raid. After accepting the lockout, you can kill the Nine without clearing the previous bosses.

The "Collector's Bounty" Event

The "Collector's Bounty" event runs periodically in the game and increases the drop chance of rare mounts from raid bosses. Keep an eye on the event calendar and plan your runs around these periods for maximum efficiency.
