Sandy Nightsaber

Sandy Nightsaber is an epic ground mount added in patch 8.3 "Visions of N'Zoth" of the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It is a light, sand-colored variant of the nightsaber with cream-colored stripes and kaldorei tack — one of five saber models from the Battle for Darkshore warfront.

To buy the mount, you have to meet a tough requirement — win the heroic Battle for Darkshore warfront in a raid group.

• Unique nightsaber coloration — the sandy model appears nowhere else in the game. For collectors of feline mounts this is a must-have specimen
• One mount — two factions — the only one of the five Darkshore sabers that is rideable by both the Horde and the Alliance. There's no need to duplicate it on alts of the opposite side
• Guaranteed purchase, not a random drop — unlike sabers from rare creatures, this mount is not tied to a drop chance. Meet the requirement, save up the currency — the mount is yours
• A permanent source — even in 2026, three expansions after patch 8.3 launched, the Darkshore warfront remains available during the appropriate phase of the cycle
• Account-wide binding — once obtained, the mount is unlocked for all characters from level 10 with basic riding skill
• Maximum ground travel speed — +60% or +100% depending on your riding skill, like any epic ground mount

1. Reach level 50 and complete the introductory Battle for Azeroth story campaign up to the "Uniting Zandalar" chain. Without it, the warfront table in Orgrimmar stays locked and the Honorbound faction is unavailable
2. Complete the one-time "Battle for Darkshore" story line. For the Horde it starts in Orgrimmar at the Honorbound command table — a series of intro quests from patch 8.1. Once finished, the warfront cycles unlock at the warfront table
3. Wait for the phase when the "Battle for Darkshore" warfront is open specifically for the Horde. The cycle state can be checked through the in-game "Missions" section
4. Assemble a raid group of 10–20 players through the Group Finder. The heroic warfront is not an open scenario: without a raid the queue simply won't activate. Add a "Darkshore HC, mount run" note to the description — you'll fill up faster
5. Pick up the quest at the command table in Orgrimmar. At the same time grab the normal version too — in a single run you'll close both tasks and earn more medals
6. Queue for the heroic scenario as the raid leader, claim victory and earn the achievement. The achievement is not account-wide — you'll have to repeat it on each character if you plan to buy the mount from both faction vendors
7. Save up 350 Honorbound Service Medal
8. Fly to Port of Zandalar (Zuldazar) and buy the mount from Provisioner Mukra. The mount is learned immediately and becomes available on all characters of the account — including Alliance alts

The "Battle for Darkshore" warfront alternates with the Battle for Stromgarde (Arathi). The full cycle consists of four phases and lasts roughly two weeks per faction:

1. Opponent's contribution — the enemies (Alliance) turn in resources, the heroic scenario is unavailable to the Horde
2. Opponent's assault — the Alliance captures the warfront, the Horde is out of the scenario
3. Horde's contribution — resources are gathered for the counterstrike, the warfront is out of reach
4. Horde's assault and control — only during this phase is the heroic scenario and the related quests open

Key points:

• The heroic scenario is active only during the assault phase — about a week out of two. Miss the window and you'll wait roughly another month
• Medals are not interchangeable between each other. On alts of the opposite faction you need to build up a separate stash

Honorbound Service Medal is a reputation-faction currency that the Horde develops from the start of the Battle for Azeroth campaign. For 350 of them, heroic victories alone usually aren't enough — you need several sources at once:

Practical pace: with active play on two warfronts and daily siege completion, in 2–3 weeks it's realistic to gather 350 medals. If you've already pushed Honorbound to "Exalted," Paragon chests provide a steady gain of exactly the currency you need.
