Searing Sunblade — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Searing Sunblade is an epic one-handed dagger worn only in the off-hand. The item arrived in The Burning Crusade with patch 2.1.0 and long remained one of the most sought-after Badge of Justice rewards.
The blade is built around a "sun" aesthetic: a warm golden-orange palette and a narrow curved blade echo the theme of the Sunwell and the blood elf culture that runs like a thread through all of The Burning Crusade content. The name nods to Shattrath and the naaru, from whom the blade is acquired.
Originally the dagger was designed as a powerful off-hand weapon for rogues: thanks to its fast speed and solid agility, it was considered the best option before the Black Temple. Today the item's combat value is irrelevant — at max level it is interesting purely as a transmog. Since the weapon has long since been detached from any current power rating, players freely pick it up for their appearance collection.
Source
The Searing Sunblade does not drop from bosses — it is a vendor item. It is sold by the naaru G'eras, who stands on the second tier of the Terrace of Light in the city of Shattrath. This is the central hub of The Burning Crusade, and you can reach it via portals from the capitals or through Nagrand.
- The blade's price is 40 gold. It previously cost 50
Badges of Justice. - Badges of Justice are awarded for completing The Burning Crusade heroic dungeons and the Karazhan raid.
- The purchase requires no reputation and is available to a character of any faction and class able to wield daggers.
- There is no limit on the number of purchases — as long as you have the badges, you can grab the blade at any time.
The key feature is that this is an off-hand weapon. It cannot be equipped in the main hand, and when setting up transmogrification it changes the appearance of the off-hand item only. Keep this in mind in advance when choosing which slot you want to style.
The blade is bound on pickup, so buying it on one character and handing it to another won't work. Every character who needs this appearance must accumulate badges and purchase the blade themselves.
Who It Suits Visually
- Looks in the style of blood elves and the Sunwell — the blade supports the golden-red color theme of that faction.
- Warm-toned Burning Crusade armor sets — the dagger does not clash with the expansion's overall palette.
- Rogue and Survival hunter builds that use the off-hand slot — it is one of the few daggers made specifically for this slot.
- "Fiery" and "solar" character concepts — the name and color scheme work directly toward such a theme.
- Contrasting builds with cold armor: the warm blade adds an accent, though that choice is debatable and won't suit everyone.
Tips
The blade is worn only in the off-hand — decide in advance which slot you are styling, or the desired appearance simply won't show up in the list.
Badges of Justice accumulate fastest in The Burning Crusade heroic dungeons: at max level they clear in just a few minutes.
Fifty badges come together in a handful of runs, so the purchase requires no separate lengthy preparation.
No reputation is needed to buy it — you just need to reach Shattrath and save up the currency.
The item is bound on pickup, so the appearance unlocks separately for each character — keep that in mind if you are collecting transmog across several heroes.
G'eras also sells other gear from that era for Badges of Justice — browse his stock to close out several appearances in a single trip.
The appearance unlocks in the appearance collection right after you buy the blade, even if you don't intend to use it in combat.
