TBC Classic Enhancement Shaman Guide (Phase 3)
About the Class
Enhancement Shaman is a mail-wearing melee fighter. In TBC it gained
Dual Wield, and the whole tree was reworked around it. The spec's personal damage is average, but it is brought into a group of physical fighters primarily for its support:
Windfury Totem,
Grace of Air Totem,
Strength of Earth Totem, the Unleashed Rage talent, as well as
Bloodlust and
Heroism.
Strengths
- Scales excellently with gear.
- The best physical-fighter support in the game.
Shamanistic Rage works both as a mana cooldown and a defensive cooldown, and it grows together with your attack power.
Weaknesses
- In weak gear the damage is low: the spec is heavily item-dependent.
- Poor survivability when it needs to be in melee.
- Mana problems on long fights, especially when twisting totems.

Talents
Ability Priority
- Set down your totems — the setup depends on the group, but
Strength of Earth Totem is up almost always; this also includes totem twisting
Stormstrike — on cooldown, unless you are catching
Windfury Weapon procs
Earth Shock — right after
Stormstrike to use its debuff, and to finish targets off
Flame Shock — alternate with
Earth Shock if its periodic effect has time to fully run its course
Water Shield — keep it on yourself for mana restoration
Multi-Target Priority
Fire Nova Totem
Magma Totem — while
Fire Nova Totem is on cooldown
Flame Shock — across several targets- After that, the usual priority into free global cooldowns
Important Abilities:
Shamanistic Rage — returns mana and reduces damage taken; the more attack power you have, the more mana
Bloodlust and
Heroism — a massive haste boost for the whole group for 40 seconds
Totemic Recall — removes your totems and returns 25% of their cost
Earth Elemental Totem — an emergency tank for the group
Fire Elemental Totem — notable single-target and area damage
Ghost Wolf — with the Improved Ghost Wolf talent it becomes instant
Tremor Totem,
Poison Cleansing Totem and
Disease Cleansing Totem — drop them a little under 5 seconds before the effect is applied
Totem twisting is your main responsibility in a group of physical fighters.
Windfury Totem enchants the group's weapons for 10 seconds, and within that window you can drop
Grace of Air Totem or
Windwall Totem without losing the effect. To keep both up, repeat the combo every 10 seconds.
Windfury Weapon has an internal cooldown of 3 seconds. Shamans wield slow weapons, so the proc is often wasted —
Stormstrike lets you claim it as soon as the cooldown expires. Also synchronize your weapons: the swings should land at the same time, and if they don't, the main-hand weapon should strike first, since it hits noticeably harder.
Spell Ranks
When twisting,
Windfury Totem is taken at rank 1: its main benefit is the extra hits, and those are the same at all ranks, while the mana saved is very noticeable.
