Sharkbait

Summon Sharkbait is a flying mount from the Battle for Azeroth expansion, added in patch 8.0.1. It is a giant parrot once ridden by the pirate captain Skycap'n Kragg — the guardian of Freehold in the skies above Tiragarde Sound. Lore-wise, Sharkbait is a capricious creature that flies wherever the snacks are, so once you get hold of a box of crunchy crackers, you gain a loyal new companion.

The item drops only from Harlan Sweete — the final boss of the Freehold dungeon — on Mythic and Mythic+ difficulty. The chance is extremely low, statistically around 0.5%, which makes the mount one of the rarest drops from Battle for Azeroth dungeons.

• One of the few parrot mounts in the game — a unique giant parrot model with vivid plumage and an expressive flight animation. There is almost no separate line of parrot birds in WoW, so Sharkbait stands out nicely on the flight platform
• A flying mount — the Summon Sharkbait ability grants full flight, with speed depending on your riding skill and location
• Available account-wide — once obtained, the mount unlocks for all characters of every faction
• Nostalgic Battle for Azeroth loot — a reason to return to Freehold and, along the way, close out achievements for clearing Kul Tiras Mythic dungeons
• Soloable farm — at max character level, Mythic Freehold can be cleared without a group, and the route to Harlan Sweete takes only a few minutes

The dungeon is located in the southern part of Tiragarde Sound on the island of Kul Tiras, next to the Castaway Cove flight point. The entrance sits on a small shoreline at the foot of a cliff.

1. Open the adventure menu (the "Adventure Guide" button → "Dungeons & Raids" tab) and find Freehold in the Battle for Azeroth section. Select "Mythic" or "Mythic+" difficulty
2. The fastest way inside is to use the Dungeon Finder: right-click your character portrait and select "Enter Dungeon". The alternative is to fly there manually
3. If you fly yourself, use the portal to Kul Tiras from Stormwind (for the Alliance) or to Zandalar → Boralus via the ship from Zuldazar (for the Horde, then the portal to Kul Tiras in the harbor)
4. Fly to Castaway Cove in Tiragarde Sound. The dungeon coordinates are roughly 85, 78
5. Descend to the cave by the water and enter the dungeon

To cut down farming time as much as possible, use mob skips — on Mythic and Mythic+ difficulty the intermediate bosses can be skipped to head straight to the final one.

1. At the starting dock, turn right and move along the buildings. Regular pirates won't aggro from afar if you hug the walls
2. Reach the square with the cockfighting pit — a mid-boss pirate stands in the center here. You don't have to kill him
3. Climb the right staircase to the upper tiers. Most patrols are easy to slip past thanks to movement speed or invisibility
4. Go up to the tavern's upper veranda and carefully skirt around the boss Skycap'n Kragg. Then head out into the rooftop courtyard — the final boss waits there
5. Harlan Sweete stands surrounded by a group of pirates. Pull him onto the balcony to fight without extra enemies
6. Kill the boss and open the chest. With a chance of around 0.5%, the loot will contain Sharkbait's Favorite Crackers

On Mythic difficulty the boss can be soloed in a minute or two. The key is not to stand in fire and to finish quickly before too many damage stacks pile up.

• Bombardment — constant background damage to all living creatures in the dungeon (except the boss himself). It periodically applies a debuff to random targets. Solo, this effect isn't critical: your character simply takes steady minor damage
• Loaded Dice: All Hands! — cast at 60% health. Summons a wave of pirates that you can gather and finish off together with the boss
• Loaded Dice: Full Crew! — cast at 30% health, empowering the next cannon attack. Solo, it's enough to run away from the fire marker on the ground
• Daggers — periodic blade throws in front of him. Don't stand directly in front of the boss; move in an arc

Mythic or Mythic+

Mythic difficulty has a weekly loot lock: one chest from Harlan Sweete per character per week. Mythic+ has no lockout — you can run a Freehold keystone any number of times. If you have a spare keystone and a bit of time, it's more efficient to farm Freehold via Mythic+.

1. Open the Mythic+ dungeon window and activate any keystone you have (the level doesn't matter — the mount drop is not tied to keystone level)
2. Run the path to Harlan Sweete and finish him off — and it's best not to complete the key within the timer, so you don't get a new high keystone
3. Open the chest at the end. If the mount didn't drop — repeat the run

Multi-farming on alts

• On each character, keep one uncompleted Freehold keystone — this gives a separate roll on the drop
• Run the Mythic version on each alt after the weekly reset — every reset grants another independent roll
• Keep in mind that the Great Vault reward at the end of the week may contain loot from Harlan Sweete, but the mount itself does not drop from the Vault in current patches — only directly from the boss

How many attempts you'll need

With a chance of ≈0.5% and one run per week per character, the median number of attempts is 138 runs (about 2.5 years). With Mythic+ keystones and alts the timeline shrinks: 3 characters at 2 runs per week is 6 rolls, meaning a median of 23 weeks (about half a year). If you want a guarantee, plan for at least several hundred attempts.
