Sheilun, Staff of the Mists — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Sheilun, Staff of the Mists is a two-handed artifact staff for the Mistweaver Monk specialization, added in the Legion expansion. It is an ancient pandaren relic: according to legend, the staff was wielded by Shaohao, the last emperor of the pandaren, and it was with its power that he wrapped all of Pandaria in a thick shroud of mist, hiding it from the invasion of the Burning Legion. For thousands of years the staff was kept on the sacred Terrace of Endless Spring under the guard of the Shado-Pan.
Visually it is a pale staff topped with a coiled cloud serpent and wisps of mist drifting around it. The model and its color variants suit only the monk class, so any monk character of any specialization can use the appearance, though the tints themselves are unlocked specifically through the Mistweaver. Since Legion is long outdated, the staff is valued today purely as transmog: this set of appearances with their misty animation remains one of the most recognizable among staves in the game.
Source
The artifact is granted through a story quest and a short solo scenario available to the Mistweaver Monk.
- The starting quest is The Emperor's Gift. You can pick it up at the monk class hall on the Peak of Serenity after the introductory Legion events.
- For the quest a cloud serpent carries the hero to the Terrace of Endless Spring — that very ancient Pandaria locale where Shaohao left the staff.
- On arrival the Terrace is defiled by the Legion. You act as a healer: you mend the gravely wounded Taran Zhu, leader of the Shado-Pan, and help his comrades cleanse the sanctuary.
- The scenario's finale is a fight against the corrupted water elemental Aspersius.
- After the victory the staff is found in the middle of the emptied spring where the elemental stood. Simply pick it up to receive the artifact.
The scenario is designed for one and does not require a group. At the current maximum level it is cleared with ease in a few minutes.
Who It Suits Visually
- It fits mist-themed monk sets — the pale palette and cloud serpent echo the Mistweaver tier set from Legion.
- It harmonizes with white, jade, and turquoise armor thanks to the light shaft and greenish tints.
- It pairs with pandaren and Shado-Pan aesthetics — jade, gold, lacquer, and dragon motifs.
- The hidden appearance with its mist effect contrasts with dark armor, making the misty haze a bright accent of the look.
Tips
The easiest way to get the staff itself is to activate the Mistweaver specialization before taking the quest — then The Emperor's Gift appears right away.
The base appearance and its tints accumulate alongside ordinary play through Legion: level up the artifact and finish the class hall achievements.
The hidden appearance requires luck:
Breath of the Undying Serpent drops rarely, and the "Dragons of Nightmare" fight can be killed only once a week on each difficulty — plan for several weeks of farming.
Run the "Dragons of Nightmare" fight on the highest available difficulty: the more attempts per week in total, the higher the chance for the hidden item.
The valorous appearance via Balance of Power requires completing the chain in the Broken Isles — it is convenient to combine with farming the artifact itself.
All Sheilun appearances and tints are tied to a monk character: unlocked variants stay in the wardrobe and are available for transmog on any monk staff.
If you only need the base appearance, simply completing the acquisition scenario is enough for the staff to appear in your appearance collection.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
