Siesbarg — How to Get the Mount in The War Within
What Is Siesbarg and Why You Want It
Siesbarg is a rare flying mount from the sky reaver category, added in The War Within expansion. It resembles a massive nerubian beast similar to those obtained from Queen Ansurek in Nerub-ar Palace, but features a unique dark color scheme.
Siesbarg is one of the most prestigious mounts in The War Within. Obtaining it requires patience and several hours of farming, but the result is worth it — you will stand out among other players atop this imposing creature.
Requirements
Before starting the quest chain, make sure the following conditions are met:
- Character level: 80
- Renown: at least Renown 4 with The Severed Threads
- Location: Azj-Kahet, City of Threads
Renown with The Severed Threads is earned naturally while progressing through the Azj-Kahet story campaign. If you have completed the main storyline of the zone, you most likely already have Renown 4.
Step 1: Kill Tka'ktath and Obtain the Vial of Blood
Everything starts with the rare elite mob Tka'ktath. It is located in Azj-Kahet on a large platform southeast of the Weavers' Lair.
/way #2255 62.8 66.4 Tka'ktath
Key details:
- Tka'ktath spawns once every 4–12 hours. When it appears, a zone-wide message is displayed: "The shadow of a hungry beast looms over the city." You then have about three minutes to fly to the location
- The chance to receive
Tka'ktath's Vial of Blood is approximately 73%, so multiple attempts may be needed - The mob is quite tough — we recommend finding a group via the Group Finder (Custom Groups section)
- Loot can be obtained once per day per character
Tip: use the RareScanner or TomTom addon to track Tka'ktath's spawn. Also check the Group Finder — groups are often created specifically for this mob.
Step 2: Start the Quest Chain at Shalba
Once you have the vial, bring it to the NPC named Shalba in the City of Threads. She is located in the northern part of the city.
/way #2213 45.4 13.4 Shalba
Turn in the vial and accept the quest The Start of Something Beautiful. This begins a chain of six quests during which you will need to collect large quantities of nerubian materials.
Step 3: Collect 1,500 Nerubian Chitin
The first quest is Those Are Chitin Words. You need to collect 1,500 units of
Nerubian Chitin.
Chitin drops from virtually any nerubians throughout Khaz Algar. Normal mobs drop 3–4 units; elites drop more.
Best farming locations for chitin:
| Location | Description | Efficiency |
|---|---|---|
| Opal Bluff (Isle of Dorn) | Coordinates 45, 59 — many nerubians with fast respawn | Medium |
| Ara-Kara dungeon (with Followers) | Kill mobs up to the second boss, then exit and reset | High |
Follower Dungeons are the most efficient method. You can enter Ara-Kara, City of Echoes in Follower Dungeon mode and farm mobs up to the second boss. Exit, reset the dungeon, and enter again. The limit is 10 runs per day.
Step 4: Collect 1,000 Nerubian Venom
The second quest is Venom? More Like Get 'Em. You need to collect 1,000 units of
Nerubian Venom.
Venom drops significantly less often than chitin. Focus on elite and rare nerubians.
Best farming locations for venom:
| Location | Description | Efficiency |
|---|---|---|
| Siege Outpost (north of Weavers' Lair, Azj-Kahet) | Fortress defenders — ~34% drop chance, 1–4 per kill | High |
| Zirix's Faithful (Isle of Dorn) | ~60% drop chance per mob | High |
| City of Threads dungeon (with Followers) | Kill mobs around the first boss, exit, and reset | High |
For the City of Threads Follower Dungeon, you will need approximately 19 runs if you kill all mobs around the first boss.
Step 5: Collect 500 Nerubian Blood
The third quest is A Small Ocean's Worth of Blood. Collect 500 units of
Nerubian Blood.
Blood is the rarest material. It drops only from ascended (bipedal) nerubians and sky reavers. Regular nerubians do not drop it.
Best farming locations for blood:
| Location | Description | Efficiency |
|---|---|---|
| Ara-Kara dungeon (with Followers) | Full clear, 80–100 blood per run | High |
| City of Threads — Transformatorium | Elite nerubians with near-guaranteed drops | Medium |
| Northern Azj-Kahet (The Rift) | Sureki raiders and priestesses | Medium |
In the Ara-Kara: City of Echoes Follower Dungeon, a full clear yields 80–100 units of blood per run. You will need approximately 5–7 runs.
Step 6: A Magnificent Spectacle and Obtaining the Mount
After turning in all three material-collection quests, Shalba will offer the quest A Magnificent Spectacle. Head to the back of the building and witness Siesbarg's ascension — the process of a nerubian creature becoming a fully fledged sky reaver.
Then accept the final quest A Comforting Flight and collect your new mount from Shalba.
/way #2213 44.2 13.6 Siesbarg
Congratulations —
Siesbarg is now in your collection!

Farming Optimization Tips
- Follower Dungeons are the best way to farm all three materials. Ara-Kara works for chitin and blood; City of Threads works for venom. The limit is 10 runs per day
- High-AoE classes (Demon Hunter, Paladin, Warlock) will finish faster. Mass area-of-effect damage is your main tool
- Farming time: the entire process from killing Tka'ktath to obtaining the mount takes roughly 6–8 hours of active farming, not counting the wait for Tka'ktath to spawn
- If you farm in the open world, form a group — it speeds up the process and makes killing elite mobs easier
- The mount is account-bound: once you obtain it on one character, it becomes available to all your other characters
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get Siesbarg on multiple characters? The mount is account-bound — you only need to obtain it once, and it will become available to all your characters.
What if Tka'ktath won't spawn? Use the Group Finder — other players on other servers may already be waiting for it to appear. Rare-mob tracking addons such as RareScanner also help.
Do I have to farm in dungeons? No, all materials can be gathered in the open world. However, Follower Dungeons are significantly faster and more convenient, especially for Nerubian Blood.
