Overview

Silvertip Dredwing

Game iconSilvertip Dredwing is an epic flying mount added in the Shadowlands expansion (patch 9.0.1). It is a silver dredwing bat from Revendreth, bred by Prince Renathal. The mount is available through all four covenants of the Shadowlands, though the method of obtaining it depends on the chosen covenant.

The mount binds on pickup and becomes available to all characters on the account. The Silvertip Dredwing has standard speeds: +60/+100% on the ground and +150/+310% in flight, depending on your riding skill.

Why you want this mount

  • Unique model — the silver coloring stands out among other dredwings. It is one of the few bats with a light color scheme in the game
  • Four ways to obtain it — the mount is available through any of the four covenants, giving you flexibility in choosing your path
  • Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air with a striking flight animation
  • Available to all characters — once learned, the mount appears in the collection on every character of your account
  • Revendreth lore — according to the description, these dredwings were raised personally by Prince Renathal, and they allow only those he deems worthy to approach them

How to obtain

The Silvertip Dredwing is available through the covenant feature of each of the four Shadowlands covenants. All methods of obtaining it are described below.

Venthyr — The Ember Court

This is the most direct way to obtain the mount.

  1. Join the Venthyr covenant in Revendreth
  2. Unlock the The Ember Court covenant feature
  3. Raise your reputation with the Ember Court to Exalted
  4. Purchase the Silvertip Dredwing from Temel in Sinfall (Revendreth) for 5,000 Reservoir Anima

The Ember Court is a weekly event where you host a social gathering for guests. Reputation is awarded for successfully hosting each event. Reaching Exalted will take several weeks of regular gatherings.

Kyrian — Path of Ascension

  1. Join the Kyrian covenant in Bastion
  2. Unlock the Path of Ascension covenant feature and upgrade it to rank 3
  3. Earn the Curse of Thirst achievement — to do this you must defeat Forsworn Corinth in the Trial of Wisdom after he absorbs two anima orbs
  4. Purchase the mount from Binkiros in the Aspirant's Rest (Bastion) for 2,500 Reservoir Anima

This method requires less anima, but the Curse of Thirst achievement may take several attempts.

Necrolords — Abomination Factory

  1. Join the Necrolords covenant in Maldraxxus
  2. Unlock the Abomination Factory covenant feature
  3. Raise your reputation with the Stitchmasters faction to Exalted
  4. Purchase the mount from Atticus in Maldraxxus for 5,000 Reservoir Anima

The Abomination Factory is available from upgrade rank 1, but higher ranks speed up the weekly reputation gain.

Night Fae — Queen's Conservatory

  1. Join the Night Fae covenant in Ardenweald
  2. Unlock the Queen's Conservatory covenant feature and upgrade it to rank 5
  3. Plant a Divine Proud Spirit with four Wild Seeds in the adjacent catalyst plots
  4. The mount drops with a certain chance from the reward cache when the spirit matures

This is the only method in which obtaining the mount is not guaranteed on the first attempt — it drops randomly. The chance is higher when using epic-quality spirits.

Comparison of obtaining methods

Covenant Location Vendor Cost Requirement Feature rank
Venthyr Revendreth Temel 5,000 Anima Exalted with the Ember Court 1
Kyrian Bastion Binkiros 2,500 Anima Curse of Thirst achievement 3
Necrolords Maldraxxus Atticus 5,000 Anima Exalted with the Stitchmasters 1
Night Fae Ardenweald Conservatory — Random drop 5

Which method to choose

Fastest: Kyrian

If you are already in the Kyrian covenant and ready for the trials on the Path of Ascension, this method requires the least anima (2,500 units). The Curse of Thirst achievement can be earned in a single successful attempt.

Most reliable: Venthyr or Necrolords

Both methods require grinding reputation to Exalted, which takes several weeks. The result is guaranteed — once you reach the required reputation level, the mount is simply bought from a vendor.

Most unpredictable: Night Fae

Obtaining it through the Queen's Conservatory depends on luck. The mount may drop on the first try, or it may take many attempts. In addition, this requires the maximum (rank 5) upgrade of the covenant feature.

Farming Reservoir Anima

Reservoir Anima is the main currency for purchasing the mount from covenant vendors. Here are the main sources:

  • World quests — complete quests in the Shadowlands, each yielding from 35 to 250 anima
  • Dungeons and raids — bosses reward items containing anima
  • Callous Concubine — arena quests in Maldraxxus grant anima
  • Weekly quests — large one-time anima rewards
  • World bosses — the weekly boss in the Shadowlands gives a substantial reward
  • Anima Conductor — a covenant sanctum feature that lets you channel anima flows into various zones for additional rewards

With active farming, you can accumulate 5,000 anima in a few days.

Tips

1

Covenants are now free — starting with patch 9.1.5, you can freely switch covenants without penalties. This lets you choose the most convenient way to obtain the mount

2

Check your reputation progress — if you have already been grinding reputation with the Ember Court or the Stitchmasters, you may be closer to the goal than you think

3

Use the Threads of Fate — at max character level, Shadowlands content goes by significantly faster

4

Don't forget the weekly resets — the Ember Court and other weekly activities refresh each week

5

Combine your goals — while grinding reputation for the mount, keep an eye on other covenant rewards: pets, transmog and achievements

6

The mount is account-wide — get it on whichever character is most convenient, and it will become available to all your heroes
