Simple Dagger — Transmog Set Guide

Simple Dagger is a one-handed dagger of common (white) quality and one of the earliest items in World of Warcraft: it has been in the game since the days of the original Classic. It is a short blade with a straight guard and a narrow edge — a deliberately unassuming, "everyday" model with no glow, runes, or ornamentation. It is precisely this simplicity that makes it a sought-after transmogrification appearance.

Since patch 10.0.5 of the Dragonflight expansion, items of common and lower quality can be used for transmogrification. This gave the Simple Dagger a second life: the look suits the image of a beggar, peasant, militiaman, or fledgling adventurer, where an expensive weapon would clash with the concept.

The Simple Dagger can be obtained in two ways, and neither requires reputation or quest completion.

World drop. The dagger drops from a great many low-level enemies — chiefly mobs of levels 4–8 in the starting zones of both factions. The list of sources is broad: the item drops from dozens of different creatures, so it has no ties to a specific boss or dungeon. In any starting location, clearing a few groups of mobs is enough for the blade to eventually drop.

Purchase from vendors. The Simple Dagger is sold by reagent vendors and general goods vendors in many cities and settlements. This is the most reliable method: instead of hunting for a random drop, you can simply buy the dagger for a few copper coins. The item's own sell price is just 6 copper, and the purchase price from a vendor is comparable.

There is no limit on the number of attempts: the item is not tied to a weekly cooldown and can be obtained as many times as you like. Binding occurs only on equip — that is, until you equip it, the dagger can be freely traded or sold at auction.

• It suits the image of a commoner, peasant, or town artisan, where a richly decorated weapon would look out of place.
• It harmonizes with cloth and leather sets in muted, earthy tones — gray, brown, beige.
• It fits a "novice rogue" or "street thief" concept: a short, plain blade reinforces the impression of a newcomer with no loud reputation.
• It looks good paired with another basic dagger of the same style if your specialization uses two one-handed weapons.
• It contrasts with glowing or richly decorated sets — such a combination underscores the deliberate modesty of the blade and works as a conscious stylistic choice.
