Slumbering Worldsnail Shell
Overview

Slumbering Worldsnail Shell is a ground mount added in patch 10.0.2 of the Dragonflight expansion. It's a vivid magma snail that lives near the Obsidian Citadel in the Waking Shores. The mount is purchased from Dealer Vexil for 1,000 Magmotes after completing a quest chain and obtaining the World-Wrecker membership card.
When you use the item, you learn to summon a rideable worldsnail — a massive lava snail with a red-hot shell. The mount has a fun /mountspecial animation: the snail tucks into its shell and performs a few spins.
Why you want this mount
- Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is bought from a vendor for a fixed price in Magmotes. There's no random drop chance: gather the currency and the mount is yours
- Unique model — this is one of the few rideable lava snails in the game. The large red-hot worldsnail looks unusual and draws attention
- Available without high level — using the item only requires level 10 and the Apprentice Riding skill. The quest chain can be completed on any character who reaches the Waking Shores
- Account-wide — once purchased, the mount becomes available to all your characters
- Secret content — the mount isn't marked on the map and isn't mentioned in the main quests. Discovering the hidden vendor and the Magmote system adds a pleasant sense of exploration
How to obtain
Obtaining the mount consists of four stages: completing the quest chain, acquiring the World-Wrecker membership card, farming 1,000 Magmotes, and buying it from the vendor.
- Travel to the Waking Shores and find Slitherwing at the Smoldering Perch (coordinates 39.5, 48.3)
- Complete a chain of four quests: "Due Reward," "Wary Cultists," "Under Lock and Key," and "Shadow of the Black Wings"
- After completing the chain, find Igira the Believer and turn in the assembled obsidian key you gathered
- Receive a twilight cache from her (about a 30% chance to contain the World-Wrecker membership card)
- Activate the membership card — you'll gain the "World-Wrecker" buff for 2 days
- Collect Magmotes by killing elite enemies near the Obsidian Citadel
- Once you've accumulated 1,000 Magmotes, head to Dealer Vexil and buy the Slumbering Worldsnail Shell
- Use the item to learn the mount
The "Shadow of the Black Wings" quest chain
Before buying the mount, you must complete a quest chain that opens access to the Magmote system and the vendor. All the quests are located around the Obsidian Citadel in the Waking Shores.
Quest order
- Due Reward — pick it up from Slitherwing (39.5, 48.3). You must deal with the cultists at the Smoldering Perch
- Wary Cultists — also from Slitherwing. Interrogate the captive cultists
- Under Lock and Key — pick it up from Ayssa (37.4, 46.6). Free the prisoners from their cages
- Shadow of the Black Wings — the final quest from Ayssa. Descend into the cave and defeat Sigenoth, Voice of Neltharion
After completing the chain you'll earn the "Waking Shores Wayfarer" achievement (in part) and unlock access to Dealer Vexil.
How to obtain the World-Wrecker membership card
The membership card is a required buff, without which you can't collect Magmotes or buy goods from Dealer Vexil.
First acquisition
- Kill elite enemies around the Obsidian Citadel and collect obsidian key fragments
- Assemble the
assembled obsidian key from the fragments - Take the key to Igira the Believer (32.2, 52.4)
- Receive a twilight cache — with about a 30% chance it will contain the World-Wrecker membership card
- If the card doesn't drop, gather another key and repeat
Repurchasing
If the buff expires or you die (the buff is removed on death), you can buy a new membership card from Dealer Vexil for 20 Magmotes. This is much faster than gathering obsidian keys all over again.
Important things to know about the buff
- The buff lasts 2 days of real time
- The buff is removed on death of the character — be careful when farming elite mobs
- Without an active buff, Magmotes don't drop from enemies
Farming Magmotes
To buy the mount you must accumulate 1,000 Magmotes. Below are all the sources of the currency.
Killing elite enemies
The main source. Elite mobs around the Obsidian Citadel in the Waking Shores drop Magmotes when you have an active World-Wrecker buff. Each mob gives 1 to 3 motes.
Turning in obsidian keys
Each assembled obsidian key turned in to Igira the Believer yields 3–6 Magmotes in addition to the chance at a membership card.
Weekly quest
The quest "No Better Than Before" from Doventhal the Chosen grants 25 Magmotes on completion. Be sure to take it every week — it's a substantial contribution.
Time estimate
With active farming, collecting 1,000 Magmotes takes about 3–4 hours of game time. If you combine farming with weekly quests over several weeks, the process stretches out but requires less concentrated effort.
How to find Dealer Vexil
Dealer Vexil is a black dracthyr located in a cave west of the Obsidian Citadel in the Waking Shores.
Coordinates
How to get there
- Head to the Smoldering Perch in the Waking Shores — it's northwest of the Obsidian Citadel
- Find the cave entrance at roughly coordinates 35.8, 47.9
- Descend into the cave — Dealer Vexil stands deep inside
- To interact with the vendor you must have an active World-Wrecker buff
What Dealer Vexil sells
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Slumbering Worldsnail Shell | 1,000 Magmotes |
| World-Wrecker membership card | 20 Magmotes |
| Orb of Obsidian Scales | 5 Magmotes |
| Flamethrower's Rum | gold |
| Dragon Spring Water | gold |
| Honey Snack | gold |
Tips
1
Beware of death — the World-Wrecker buff is removed when your character dies. If you're farming elite mobs, watch your health and don't take risks. Losing the buff means having to spend 20 Magmotes on a new membership card
2
Buy a spare card — as soon as you have a spare 20 Magmotes, purchase an extra membership card from Dealer Vexil. Keep it in your bags in case of an unexpected death
3
Don't forget the weekly quest — the quest "No Better Than Before" from Doventhal the Chosen gives 25 Magmotes per completion. Over four weeks that's already 100 motes — a noticeable time saving
4
A group speeds up farming — the elite mobs near the Obsidian Citadel can be tough for some classes solo. Team up with other players: every group member gets their own Magmotes
5
Complete the quests first — without finishing the "Shadow of the Black Wings" chain you won't gain access to the vendor and the Magmote system. Start with the quests from Slitherwing
6
The mount is account-wide — farm Magmotes on whichever character handles elite enemies best. Once purchased, the mount will appear on all your characters
7
Obsidian keys give both motes and the card — when turning in an obsidian key to Igira the Believer, you get both Magmotes and a chance at a membership card. As long as you have the buff, keep turning in keys for extra motes

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
