Stealthblade is a one-handed dagger of rare quality from the early era of World of Warcraft. It is a short, curved blade with a light, smooth edge and a plain, unadorned hilt: the model is clean and uncluttered, so in transmog it reads as an assassin's "working knife" rather than a ceremonial weapon.
The dagger is bind on equip and flagged as unique-equipped — you can only wear one copy on a character. The weapon has its own effect: with a certain chance on hit it triggers
Subtlety, which briefly lowers your threat against all enemies. This trait is irrelevant for transmog — the appearance is transferred without the effect — but it explains the item's name and makes it a small relic of old design.
For a modern player, the Stealthblade is interesting for exactly one thing: a clean silhouette for rogue, demon hunter and any dagger-wielding class. This is a legacy item obtained only by solo-farming an old dungeon, and the whole point of the trip is to add a rare appearance to your wardrobe.
The appearance is obtained one way only — it drops from regular mobs in the Sunken Temple dungeon. This is the former cult dungeon of the Atal'ai tribe in the Swamp of Sorrows in the Eastern Kingdoms. No quests, recipes or vendors: just farming.
The entrance to the dungeon is in the center of the lake in the eastern part of the Swamp of Sorrows, roughly at coordinates 70, 55. You have to swim up to the sunken temple and dive underwater — the passage leads inside, where you surface in dry halls.
The dagger is not tied to a boss — it drops from regular mobs throughout the dungeon, so in a single run you check several sources at once. The chance is extremely low: according to Wowhead statistics it sits around hundredths of a percent, so plan for dozens, if not hundreds, of runs.
| Mob | Drop chance |
|---|---|
| Dragonmaw Ambusher | ~0.02% |
| Atal'ai High Priest | ~0.01% |
| Atal'ai Deathwalker | ~0.01% |
| Nightmare Wanderer | ~0.01% |
| Hakkari Sapper | ~0.01% |
| Hakkari Frostwing | ~0.005% |
The dungeon is designed for level 20–30 characters, so at max level everything inside is destroyed instantly. There is no limit on the number of visits — you can run it back to back, resetting the dungeon. Solo farming here is comfortable: mobs stand in dense groups, and in one pass you gather a large pack of enemies.
The Stealthblade appearance has no known color variants — it is a standalone model, not part of a recolor line. Its closest relative is an updated version of the same dagger from the Season of Discovery mode in the Classic version of the game:
| Name | Source | Wowhead |
|---|---|---|
| Corrupted Stealthblade | Sunken Temple, Season of Discovery mode | classic/item=220674 |
If you want a similar appearance in spirit — a short, curved dagger without ornate details — it is worth looking at other early-era blades with the same minimalist silhouette. There are many among the drops of classic dungeons, and the easiest way to pick a substitute is through the dagger filter in the appearances wardrobe.
Farming goes fastest on highly mobile classes — druids and death knights can teleport to the dungeon entrance, which almost instantly resets the path between runs.
The route inside the temple is a loop: walk the dungeon in a circle and you end up back at the entrance without backtracking.
Gather mobs in large groups and kill them in packs — at max level this is safe and noticeably shortens a single run.
Plan for a long grind: with a chance in the hundredths of a percent, it often takes several hundred kills, so spread your runs across several play sessions.
On the same run, check for related appearances from this dungeon — for example, the two-handed sword
Deathblow and the one-handed axe
Frostbite. They also drop from local mobs, so one route closes several collection goals at once.
Check the auction house before farming: the Stealthblade is only bind on equip, so sometimes it is easier to buy it from other players than to farm it yourself.
The appearance is added to your collection the moment you receive the item — you do not need to wear the dagger permanently, looting it once is enough.
