Overview

Stone Carver's Scramseax

Game iconStone Carver's Scramseax is a cosmetic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft in The War Within with patch 11.0.7 alongside Siren Isle. It is a purely decorative weapon: it has almost no combat stats, the item is account-bound, and it exists solely for its appearance in your transmog collection.

The blade is shaped like a faceted crystal on a carved hilt — a cold turquoise-blue model from the progenitor raid weapon set. This silhouette is easily recognized by its glowing crystalline edge. The item is tied to the Siren Isle story by its flavor text: "From the stars she wove, from the earth she carved; upon the crystal blade lies my song. I grant you, dear Jardfyr, a blade unlike any before." The dagger suits any specialization that uses daggers — rogues, druids, shamans, mages, priests, demon hunters and warlocks.

Source

The Stone Carver's Scramseax is not an item dropped by a slain mob, but a treasure object that lies in The Forgotten Vault, an underground location on Siren Isle. You can claim the dagger an unlimited number of attempts, with no weekly restrictions, but without a special buff the interactive object simply will not respond.

Prerequisites. To reach the Forgotten Vault, you must complete the Siren Isle questline and progress it up to the quest "The Radiant Vault". After that quest, the vault is unlocked permanently and you can enter it at any time.

How to claim the dagger step by step:

  • Enter the Forgotten Vault and head to the large southwestern hall.
  • In the western part of this hall, a yellow Radiant Citrine lies on the floor — right-click on it.
  • The citrine grants you the "Glittering Vault Shard" buff, which turns your character into an iron vrykul and lasts two minutes.
  • While the buff is active, quickly run to the northwestern hall, where the Stone Carver's Scramseax itself lies on a pedestal, and use the dagger object.
  • The cosmetic item is added to your transmog collection immediately for your entire account.

The main challenge is the two-minute timer. Any transformation or shapeshift removes the buff: the shaman's ghost wolf, druid forms, any morphing effects. Movement speed boosts, on the other hand, are allowed and help you make it in time.

Alternatives

The Stone Carver's Scramseax has no known color variants — it is a unique treasure. If for some reason you cannot claim the dagger the usual way, there is a second path to the required buff, as well as several other cosmetic rewards from the same Forgotten Vault.

The "Glittering Vault Shard" toy grants the same buff in its effect, so you can use it to claim the dagger without running to the citrine. The toy drops from the rare enemies of the Forgotten Vault: Gunnlod the Sea-Drinker, Ksvir the Forgotten and Shardsong.

Who It Suits Visually

  • The crystalline turquoise-blue blade pairs with the Vault of the Incarnates raid sets from Dragonflight — the weapons there use the same model.
  • It looks great with cold blue-icy armor sets: ice, crystal and water-magic themed looks.
  • It fits the vrykul theme of Siren Isle — it harmonizes with plate and leather sets in a northern, "Viking" style.
  • A contrasting but striking choice for dark rogue or demon hunter looks: the glowing crystal stands out against black leather.
  • A pair of daggers made from two copies of the Stone Carver's Scramseax gives a symmetrical crystalline look for dual-blade specializations.

Tips

1

Before the run to the citrine, learn the route from the southwestern hall to the northwestern one in advance — two minutes is plenty only with a direct path.

2

Do not use transformations or shapeshifts after gaining the buff: the shaman's ghost wolf, druid forms and any morphing instantly remove the "Glittering Vault Shard".

3

Movement speed effects do not remove the buff — bring along everything that speeds up your run.

4

If you have already obtained the "Glittering Vault Shard" toy, you do not need to run to the citrine — activate the buff right at the pedestal with the dagger.

5

The dagger is account-bound, so there is no need to claim it again on other characters — the appearance is immediately available to your whole account.

6

The Forgotten Vault changes state during the storm on Siren Isle: this is irrelevant for the dagger itself, but the rare enemies with the toy appear on their own schedule, so plan the toy farm separately.

7

The two-minute timer is not tied to combat or dungeons — calmly repeat the attempt if you did not make it: the buff is taken from the citrine again without restrictions.
