Sturdy Silver Mawrat Harness

Overview

Sturdy Silver Mawrat Harness is an item that teaches the ground mount Colossal Umbrahide Mawrat. The harness was added in patch 9.2.0 "Eternity's End" and belongs to a group of five mawrat mounts introduced in Shadowlands. The umbrahide mawrat is a large purple-grey rodent with a massive saddle, standing out visually against the ordinary scurrying mawrats of the Maw.

The item drops from the final boss of any wing of Torghast, Tower of the Damned at level 13 and above. An additional chance comes from the boss of the Adamant Vaults — a bonus area that opens after a flawless run. According to community reports, the base drop chance is around 1%, and in the Vaults it is slightly higher. The mount is account-wide once obtained on any character.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Rare rodent model — there are few mawrat mounts in the collection, and the umbrahide version with its dark purple fur is considered the most striking of the five patch 9.2 variants
  • Ground mount at full speed — it gains a +60% or +100% bonus depending on your riding skill, meaning it travels at the maximum speed for ground transport
  • Shared progress on alts — you can farm Torghast on several characters in parallel, each giving an independent chance at the harness
  • Nostalgic content — Torghast remains active after the end of Shadowlands and lets you farm calmly at max level without competition
  • Part of the five-mawrat collection — alongside the umbrahide one, you can collect the Sturdy Soulsteel Mawrat Harness, Colossal Soulshredder Mawrat, Colossal Plaguespew Mawrat and Colossal Wraithbound Mawrat

How to Obtain

The main route to the mount is flawless Torghast runs at level 13 and above. The Adamant Vaults give an increased chance but require additional preparation through the Box of Many Things system.

  1. Unlock Torghast, Tower of the Damned
  2. Level up the tower up to and including layer 13 — layers 13–16 open sequentially as you complete the previous one
  3. Buy the Adamant Vaults perk in the Box of Many Things — it sits in the third row, requires 250 Tower Knowledge to unlock the row and 100 for the purchase itself
  4. Choose one of the six wings: Skoldus Hall, The Fracture Chambers, Soulforges, Coldheart Interstitia, Mort'regar or The Upper Reaches
  5. Run the wing so that you score at least 200 points and earn five gems — that is the "flawless" result
  6. Kill the final boss on the fifth floor — with about a 1% chance it drops the Sturdy Silver Mawrat Harness
  7. On a flawless run, move into the Adamant Vaults (additional floors 6 and 7) and kill the Vaults boss — its chance at the harness is slightly higher

Adamant Vaults — Key to the Increased Chance

The Adamant Vaults are a bonus area that opens after flawlessly completing the main run. Their boss has a slightly higher chance at the harness, so always aim for the maximum result.

Access Requirements

  1. Acquire the Adamant Vaults perk in the Box of Many Things — third row, total cost 350 Tower Knowledge (250 to unlock the row + 100 for the perk itself)
  2. Choose a run at layer 9 or above
  3. Score 200+ points and earn all five gems in the run — this counts as a flawless result
  4. After killing the final boss, use the portal into the Vaults to clear two more floors
  5. Kill the Vaults boss and get an extra roll on the harness

How to Score 200 Points

  • Preserve your health — a gem is awarded for flawless health
  • Don't use too many lives (they are subtracted from the final score)
  • Run quickly — a separate gem is awarded for speed
  • Collect anima powders and use strong soul-power combinations
  • Don't skip rare chests and bonus rooms

Farming Optimization

Daily and Weekly Cycle

Entry into Torghast is unlimited, but on each character you can only complete a set number of runs before the weekly reset. Since the harness has no weekly lockout, you can grind it daily.

  1. Pick a Torghast wing that suits your specialization and clear speed
  2. Raise the difficulty to layer 13–16 — the mount chance starts at layer 13
  3. Use strong anima-power combinations: prioritize single-target damage sources
  4. After killing the final boss, always check the Vaults on a flawless result
  5. Repeat the cycle on several characters to speed up the farm

Choosing a Layer

There's no point farming above layer 13 for the harness itself — the chance is identical on layers 13, 14, 15 and 16. However, higher layers unlock access to achievements and another mawrat mount ([Colossal Soulshredder Mawrat]).

  • Layer 13 — optimal for clear speed and effort
  • Layer 16 — requires a full flawless clear of all wings for the achievement, but also grants a second harness
  • Above 13 — only worth it for parallel goals

Multi-Farming on Alts

The harness is a per-character item with an independent roll point. The more max-level alts you have with Torghast unlocked, the higher your overall chance.

  • Level at least 3–5 characters to level 80 so they clear Torghast quickly
  • On each alt, invest 350 Tower Knowledge into the Adamant Vaults perk
  • Memorize room layouts to minimize run time
  • Use the cooking or alchemy profession for buffs before the boss

Preparing for the Run

  • Before entering, make sure you have free inventory and no active Torghast debuffs from a previous run
  • Bring health and mana restoration potions
  • Prepare a specialization with high survivability and self-healing
  • At max level (90 in Midnight) any Torghast run can be cleared solo without much trouble

Tips

1

Don't try to farm the harness below layer 13 — it physically does not drop before that layer. Any run below 13 is wasted time for this goal

2

Always aim for a flawless result — the difference between an ordinary run and a flawless one is that in the latter case you get an extra roll in the Vaults, which effectively doubles your chances per session

3

The Box of Many Things is worth upgrading on all alts — 350 Tower Knowledge is a small price for the ability to open the Vaults, and points are earned from regular runs and Torghast achievements

4

Don't fixate on a single wing — wings randomize internally, and after a dozen runs in a row you'll start "getting stuck" in the same rooms. Switch wings for variety and to grab parallel achievements

5

Save your Phantasma — Torghast's currency lets you buy hints and temporary bonuses right inside the tower. When farming for the harness, spend it on strong anima items from the tree

6

Collect the rest of the mawrat mounts in parallel — the Colossal Soulshredder Mawrat unlocks for the "Flawless Master" achievement on layer 16 of all wings, the Colossal Ebon Mawrat for tier 4 of the Jailer's Gauntlet, and the Colossal Plaguespew and Colossal Wraithbound mawrats are farmed in Zereth Mortis

7

The farm has no lockout — unlike weekly mounts (for example, from garrison invasions), Torghast allows an unlimited number of attempts, which is ideal for persistent collectors
