Get Swift Brown Ram mount
Overview

Swift Brown Ram is an epic Alliance ground mount, one of the three swift rams traditionally used by the dwarves of Ironforge. The model depicts a large mountain ram with thick dark-brown wool, massive curled horns, and a leather harness crafted by Ironforge artisans. It's a classic racial mount added all the way back in patch 1.4, yet fully relevant in the current expansion.
The mount is sold by Veron Amberstill at the Amberstill Ranch in the eastern part of Dun Morogh. The price is just 10 gold. Dwarves can buy it as soon as they reach the required riding skill, while members of other Alliance races must earn Ironforge's respect up to the "Exalted" standing.
Why You Want This Mount
- +100% speed on the ground — a full-fledged epic ground mount, matching any other swift steed in speed characteristics
- Available account-wide — once purchased on one character, the mount unlocks for all your other Alliance and Horde characters on the account
- Valuable for collectors — it counts toward general mount-count achievements and meta-achievements for racial steeds
- Part of the Ironforge racial collection — collected as a set with the Swift Gray Ram and Swift White Ram, as well as their slower versions
- Thematic choice — the brown coloring pairs perfectly with the armor of Alliance warriors and paladins, especially dwarven-themed sets
- Cheap and simple — compared to raid mounts and achievement rewards, it's one of the most accessible epic steeds in the game
How to Reach Veron Amberstill
The merchant is located at the Amberstill Ranch — a small ranch east of Ironforge, in the Dun Morogh zone. The fastest route is to teleport to Ironforge and fly there on a flying mount or walk east on foot.
- Open a portal to Ironforge from any major Alliance city. In Stormwind the portals to capitals are in Stormwind Keep; in Boralus they're in the square near the harbor area
- Leave Ironforge through the eastern gate and travel along the road toward Dun Morogh
- The Amberstill Ranch is located in the eastern part of Dun Morogh. The merchant's coordinates:
- At the ranch you'll see a pen of rams and Veron himself next to an old cart. Open his dialog — if the required conditions are met, all the epic rams will appear in the vendor window, including the
Swift Brown Ram
If your character is a dwarf, the goods list will appear immediately. If you play another Alliance race and don't have Exalted with Ironforge, Veron will plainly state that he won't hand the reins to an unproven ally and won't trade with you.
How to Reach Exalted with Ironforge
If you play a human, night elf, draenei, worgen, pandaren, void elf, lightforged draenei, or any other Alliance race besides dwarf, you'll need to raise your reputation with Ironforge to Exalted. Below are the most efficient methods in the current patch.
Diplomat Bonus for Humans
- The human racial trait Diplomacy grants +10% to reputation gained with all factions. If you have a human character, use that one — it speeds up the farm
Ironforge Tabard
The most reliable way to raise reputation is to equip the
Ironforge Tabard. It's purchased from Captain Stonehelm in Ironforge for a few silver coins.
- While the tabard is worn, any kill in classic dungeons and heroic dungeons grants Ironforge reputation
- The fastest option is solo runs of old Cataclysm and earlier-expansion dungeons. Starting at level 90, all of these dungeons can be cleared solo in a few minutes
Story Quests of Dun Morogh and Ironforge
- Complete the dwarven starting quest chains in Dun Morogh, Loch Modan, and Wetlands. Many of them give 250–500 reputation each and collectively raise you to Friendly or Honored with no extra effort
- Quests from old expansions tied to Ironforge also count toward the total
Optimal Route for Reputation Farming
- Create or switch to a level 90 character
- Buy the
Ironforge Tabard in Ironforge and equip it - Solo-clear classic dungeons (Dire Maul, Dire Maul, Stratholme) in 5–10 minutes per run
- In parallel, finish quests in the dwarven zones — they cover the early reputation levels for free
- Once you reach Exalted, head to Veron Amberstill and buy the mount
Based on player experience, a full farm from Neutral to Exalted takes 8–15 hours of clean time depending on your chosen route and bonuses. With human Diplomacy and scrolls, that time is cut by about a third.
Tips
Buy all three rams at once — if you've already reached Exalted, spend another 20 gold. They count separately toward the mount collection and lead to collector achievements
Don't forget the regular colors — if you collect everything, Veron also sells basic rams for 1 gold. They use the same model but count as separate mounts
Don't waste your time — if you don't play Alliance, buying this ram is impossible. The mount is hard-locked to the faction, and account transfer doesn't work
Check your reputation progress in advance — sometimes characters who played a lot in old expansions already have Exalted with Ironforge and simply don't know it. Open the "Reputation" tab and find Ironforge
Optimal class for farming dungeons under the tabard — demon hunter and retribution paladin. The former offers the highest mobility and quickly gathers mobs into packs, the latter efficiently clears them with mass strikes
Discount on the mount price — at high Ironforge reputation levels the price drops. At Exalted the final cost falls from 10 to about 8 gold, which is nice but doesn't affect the overall calculation
