Overview

Swift Burgundy Wolf

Game iconSwift Burgundy Wolf is an epic ground mount added to World of Warcraft in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion (patch 3.1.2). It is a large battle wolf with a dark burgundy coat, typical of the riding beasts of the Orgrimmar orcs. The mount is purchased from a vendor on the grounds of the Argent Tournament in Icecrown for 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold.

To make the purchase you must be an orc or hold the Champion of Orgrimmar achievement, which is unlocked through the chain of Argent Tournament daily quests. The mount is available only to Horde characters.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Collector's value — one of the eight Horde racial mounts available through the Argent Tournament. By collecting all five racial mounts and earning the Crusader title, you unlock access to additional daily quests and rewards
  • Low cost — only 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold. It is one of the cheapest tournament mounts and can be bought on the very first day after earning the rank of Champion of Orgrimmar
  • Unique coloring — the burgundy hue sets this wolf apart from the standard orc racial mounts available from ordinary vendors in Orgrimmar
  • Account-wide — once obtained, the mount is unlocked for all Horde characters on your account

How to Get to the Argent Tournament

The Argent Tournament is located in the northeast of Icecrown in Northrend.

  1. Travel to Dalaran (Northrend). The portal to old Dalaran is available through a portal-trainer NPC in your faction's capital or through the portal room
  2. In Dalaran, find the flight master and use the flight point to the Argent Tournament Grounds
  3. You can also fly there yourself — the grounds are in the northeastern part of Icecrown

How to Obtain

The process of obtaining the mount consists of two stages: earning the rank of Champion of Orgrimmar and buying the mount with seals.

Stage 1: Argent Tournament Progression

The Argent Tournament is a permanent venue with a system of daily quests and ranks. Progression goes through three tiers:

Stage 1: Argent Tournament Progression
Rank
What's needed
How long it takes
AspirantBegin the quest chain at the Argent Tournament1 day
ValiantCollect 15 Aspirant's Seals through daily quests3 days
ChampionCollect 25 Valiant's Seals through Orgrimmar daily quests and win the challenge5 days

Total duration from the start to the rank of Champion is a minimum of 9 days of daily quest completion.

  1. Arrive at the Argent Tournament and speak with the NPC in the Sunreavers' tent (the Horde camp). You will be offered the chance to become an Aspirant
  2. Complete the three Aspirant daily quests, each of which grants Aspirant's Seals. Over three days you will collect 15 seals
  3. Turn in 15 seals and pass the trial — you will earn the rank of Valiant
  4. If your character is an orc, you will automatically begin questing for Orgrimmar. If not — first become the Champion of your own race, then choose the Orgrimmar faction
  5. Complete the four Valiant daily quests for Orgrimmar. After 5 days you will collect 25 Valiant's Seals
  6. Turn in the seals and win the Valiant's trial — you will earn the Champion of Orgrimmar achievement

Stage 2: Buying the Mount

Once you reach the rank of Champion, the Champion daily quests open up, each rewarding Champion's Seals. At the Champion rank you can earn from 6 to 11 seals per day.

  1. Complete the Champion daily quests — 5 seals can be collected in a single day
  2. Find Freka Bloodaxe in the Sunreavers' tent at the Argent Tournament (coordinates 76.4, 24.2 in Icecrown)
  3. Buy the Game iconSwift Burgundy Wolf for 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold
  4. Use the item — the mount will appear in your collection

Optimizing Seal Farming

Daily Seal Income

The number of seals per day depends on your progress in the tournament:

Daily Seal Income
Rank
Seals per day
Champion (one faction)6–11
Crusader (all Horde factions)9–17

For maximum seal income, become a Crusader — this requires the rank of Champion for all five Horde racial factions and Exalted reputation with each of them.

Sources of Seals

  • Champion daily quests — the main source, 5–8 seals per day
  • Heroic Trial of the Champion — a dungeon on the tournament grounds, whose bosses grant additional seals
  • Crusader quests — unlocked after earning the title, granting another 3–5 seals per day

Farming on Alts

Since the wolf needs only 5 seals, farming on alts is not worthwhile — you will earn the required amount in a single day on your main character. Alternate characters make sense if you want to collect all the tournament mounts at once.

Tips

1

Start with your own race's championship — if your character is not an orc, you will first have to complete the chain for your own race, then choose Orgrimmar. This adds another 5 days to the progression

2

Combine with other goals — the Argent Tournament sells pets, toys, tabards, and transmog gear for seals. While you work through the quest chain, plan your purchases in advance

3

Don't forget the dungeon — the heroic Trial of the Champion grants additional seals and is cleared quickly at max level

4

Check your reputation — if your character is not Exalted with Orgrimmar, put on the Orgrimmar tabard and grind reputation in any dungeons. This will speed up earning the Crusader title

5

At level 80 it's all easy — in The War Within all Argent Tournament quests and the dungeon are cleared instantly. The only limitation is the daily quest reset, which cannot be bypassed
