Swift Lovebird is an epic ground mount from the strider family, added in patch 4.3.0 of the Cataclysm expansion. It is a bright pink bird that has become one of the symbols of the Love is in the Air holiday event. The mount is purchased from a vendor at the Gala of Gifts for 270 Love Tokens — a currency that can only be earned during this annual holiday.
In appearance, the Swift Lovebird is a graceful strider of a rich pink color. The mount's model was updated in patch 8.1.0, gaining more detailed plumage and improved animations. The mount has a miniature counterpart — the Lovebird Hatchling pet, which makes the perfect companion for your pink bird.
To purchase the mount, you need to accumulate 270 Love Tokens during the Love is in the Air event, which takes place annually in mid-February and lasts about two weeks.
Love is in the Air is an annual holiday event tied to Valentine's Day. It lasts about two weeks in mid-February. In 2025 the event was completely reworked: the outdated mechanics with Lovely Charms and bracelets were removed, and a new festive venue, the Gala of Gifts, was added with revamped quests.
The Gala of Gifts is the central venue of the event, located in front of the gates of Stormwind and Orgrimmar. This is where the vendors, quest givers and holiday activities are found. You can reach the Gala of Gifts:
Love Tokens are the only currency of the event. Since 2025 they have become account-bound, so you can accumulate them across several characters and spend them from any of them.
Each day several groups of quests are available at the Gala of Gifts:
Defeat Apothecary Hummel daily in the holiday version of Shadowfang Keep. For your first clear of the day you receive a Heart-Shaped Box, which contains 5–11 Love Tokens, as well as a chance at rare mounts — the Big Love Rocket and other holiday rewards.
The introductory quest chain at the Gala of Gifts grants about 140 Love Tokens. These quests are completed once per event and provide a substantial starting capital.
At the Gala of Gifts you can donate 100,000 gold through the Artisans' Consortium. In return you will receive 10 Love Tokens by mail. This is optional and suits only those who have more gold than time.
| Source | Tokens per day |
|---|---|
| Daily quests | ~40 |
| Holiday dungeon | 5–11 |
| Gold donation (optional) | 10 |
| Total | ~45–61 |
At ~45 tokens per day (without donations), you will need roughly 3–4 days of active farming to buy the mount, accounting for the one-time quests worth 140 tokens. Here is the optimal plan:
Since Love Tokens are Warband-bound, you can complete daily quests on several characters and pool the tokens into the shared account bank. This lets you save up for the mount in just a day or two.
If you missed the event, the mount can be bought on the auction house at any time of year. The price varies from a few thousand to tens of thousands of gold depending on the server and the time. Right after the event ends the price is usually at its lowest — many players list spare copies. Toward the end of the year the price gradually rises.
The Swift Lovebird is one of the few mounts that can be sold on the auction house. If you have spare tokens left over after buying one for yourself, purchase additional copies and list them on the auction house a few months after the event, when the price has gone up.
Don't leave it until the last day — the event lasts only two weeks, and if you start late you may not have time to accumulate enough tokens. Begin on the very first day
Check the auction house — sometimes the mount sells on the auction house for less than the cost of farming tokens, especially in the early days of the event when supply is high
Stockpile tokens on several characters — thanks to the Warband system, all tokens go into the shared account pool. If you have several characters, you can save up for the mount in a single day
Don't forget the dungeon — the daily run of the holiday dungeon not only grants tokens but also a chance to obtain the rarest mount, the Big Love Rocket (X-45 Heartbreaker)
Remember the introductory quests — the one-time chain grants about 140 tokens, which is more than half the cost of the mount. Don't skip it
The mount is not bound — even if you accidentally buy a spare, you can sell it on the auction house or gift it to a friend through trade
Keep an eye on the event dates — Love is in the Air takes place once a year in February. If you miss it, you will have to wait a whole year, and the auction house price will be significantly higher
