Swift Mistsaber

Swift Mistsaber is an epic racial ground mount of the night elves, available in World of Warcraft ever since the original game. It is a large saber-toothed cat with thick gray-smoky fur that, according to the in-game lore, night elves associate with ancient highborne experiments on ordinary sabers. The model is calm and monumental: the cat moves with a soft tread rather than a gallop, which sets it apart from most other mounts.

The mount is sold by Lelanai, a saber tamer. After the burning of Teldrassil and the subsequent rebirth of the night elves, she relocated to Bel'ameth — the new capital at the foot of the world tree Amirdrassil on the Dragon Isles. Alongside the Swift Mistsaber, her stock includes two more epic sabers and four basic ones, so a single trip to the vendor lets you complete an entire line of racial mounts at once.

• Maximum ground movement speed — the epic saber grants +100% speed and is no slower than any other epic ground mount. Handy for old zones, battlegrounds, and resource farming where flying is not allowed
• A rare saber coloration — the misty-gray fur with a bluish sheen distinguishes it from its nightsaber, frostsaber, and dawnsaber kin. In the night elf collection, this is the most "ghostly" model
• The only legitimate path for other Alliance races — to unlock access to epic sabers, characters of other races need to raise their reputation with Darnassus to Revered. This is one of the few ways for a non-night elf to obtain a feline racial model
• Counts toward collector achievements — the mount counts toward all general achievements for the number of mounts
• Completes the epic saber trio — together with the Swift Frostsaber and the Swift Stormsaber, this model forms a set of three fast night elf colorations. All three are sold by the same NPC, and it makes sense to grab them in one visit
• Account-wide collection — once purchased by one character, the mount appears in the collection of all your Alliance characters, regardless of their race and class

For a night elf character, the mount is unlocked automatically: the race removes all reputation restrictions, and you can buy it as soon as you reach the vendor and learn the required riding skill.

1. Reach level 40 and learn Journeyman Riding. The skill is sold by riding trainers in all major Alliance cities
2. Travel to Stormwind by any convenient means
3. Find the portal to Bel'ameth. The easiest route is through Stormwind's Mage Quarter: go up the stairs and into the hall with portals, where a permanent portal to Bel'ameth is set up
4. Step through the portal to Bel'ameth
5. Head to the saber pens in the eastern part of the city. Lelanai stands next to a large wooden enclosure and a trained nightsaber
6. Open the dialogue, select the purchase, and grab the Reins of the Swift Mistsaber for 10 gold
7. Activate the reins — the mount will appear in your collection and become available to all Alliance characters on the account

Any Alliance character can buy an epic saber if they raise their reputation with Darnassus to Revered. After the burning of Teldrassil, the most convenient way to grind night elf reputation is through the Darnassus Tabard and repeatable old dungeons.

1. Buy the Darnassus Tabard from Moon Priestess Lasara. The quartermaster is in the Stormwind Embassy, next to other representatives of the Alliance capitals
2. Put on the tabard and head to any heroic dungeon starting from the Wrath of the Lich King era. Killing enemies while wearing the tabard grants reputation with Darnassus
3. A single full clear of a heroic Legion or Battle for Azeroth dungeon grants roughly 1,000–1,500 reputation while the tabard is worn
4. In parallel, pick up all the available quests in night elf zones (Teldrassil before the burning, Darkshore, Ashenvale, Feralas). Many old quests still grant reputation with Darnassus
5. Bring the value up to Revered — that is 42,000 from Friendly
6. Head to Lelanai in Bel'ameth. Once you reach Revered, her stock opens up fully: four basic and three epic sabers, including the Reins of the Swift Mistsaber
7. Buy the mount for 10 gold and activate it. The model will become available to all Alliance characters on the account

Reputation is grinded fastest on a human character: the race gets a permanent +10% bonus to all reputation gained, which noticeably speeds up the path to Revered.

• Which character is best to buy it on? Fastest of all — on a level 40 night elf with Journeyman Riding learned: no reputation is needed, the mount unlocks right away. If you don't have a night elf, look at a human alt you already run through old dungeons for transmog: its +10% reputation bonus will speed up the path to Revered with Darnassus
• How long does Revered with Darnassus take? Without a tabard and bonuses — several weeks of random activities. With a tabard and focused farming of heroic Legion and Battle for Azeroth dungeons — around 4–6 hours
• Can the reins be bought on the auction house? No. The item is soulbound on pickup; it cannot be resold or traded. Only a direct purchase from Lelanai
• Do the reins need to be activated specifically by a night elf? No. After use, the mount is bound to the account and becomes available to all Alliance characters. It does not matter who actually clicks the reins
• Does the mount work for the Horde? No. This is an Alliance racial mount. Horde characters can neither buy it nor ride it, even if you switched factions and the mount is already in the collection
• What is the difference between the swift and the regular saber? Speed. Basic sabers cost 1 gold and grant +60% speed, requiring only level 20 and Apprentice Riding. The swift versions cost 10 gold, require level 40 and Journeyman Riding, but grant the full +100%
• What if I already bought the mount before the burning of Teldrassil? It stays in the collection forever and does not disappear with location changes. The reins are bound to the account, so everything you collected earlier is preserved
