Swift Violet Ram
Overview

Swift Violet Ram is an epic ground mount added to World of Warcraft in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion (patch 3.1.2). It is a large battle ram with rich violet wool, massive horns and a sturdy bone skull, built to ram armored enemies. The mount belongs to the Ironforge transport line and is purchased from a quartermaster at the Argent Tournament grounds in Icecrown.
To buy it you must reach the rank of Champion of Ironforge — this takes at least 8–10 days of completing daily quests at the tournament. The mount itself costs 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold — one of the most affordable tournament rewards.
Why You Want This Mount
- Collector value — one of the few violet rams in the game. Its unique coloring sets it apart from standard Ironforge mounts
- Low cost — only 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold. By comparison, most other Argent Tournament mounts cost considerably more
- Account-wide — once purchased, the mount appears in the collection of all your Alliance characters
- Part of an achievement series — buying Argent Tournament mounts counts toward the overall mount counter for the "Leading the Cavalry" achievement series
- Parallel farming — while you earn seals for this ram, you simultaneously accumulate currency for other tournament rewards: mounts, pets, a tabard and transmog gear

How to Reach the Argent Tournament
The Argent Tournament grounds are located in the northeast of Icecrown in Northrend.
- Head to Dalaran (Northrend). The portal to old Dalaran is available from Alliance capitals — look for it in the portal room of Stormwind
- From Dalaran, fly north across Icecrown. The tournament grounds are in the far northeastern corner of the zone

How to Earn the Champion of Ironforge Rank
Before buying the ram, you need to complete the Argent Tournament quest chain and reach the rank of Champion of Ironforge. Tournament progress is divided into three stages.
Stage 1: Aspirant (3 days)
Speak with Justicar Mariel Trueheart at the tournament grounds. She will direct you to your race's trainer. Complete daily quests to earn Aspirant's Seals — you need to collect 15. This takes about 3 days.
After collecting 15 seals, you receive a duel quest; winning it raises your rank to Valiant.
Stage 2: Valiant (5 days)
At this stage you represent a specific city — choose Ironforge. Daily quests award Valiant's Seals, and you need to collect 25 to advance. The minimum time is 5 days.
After collecting 25 seals, a final duel for the title of Champion of Ironforge awaits you.
Stage 3: Champion
Win the final duel and earn the Champion of Ironforge achievement. From this point, Derrick Brindlebeard — the Ironforge quartermaster at the tournament grounds — will open access to his goods, including the
Swift Violet Ram.
For dwarves: if your character is a dwarf, Ironforge is automatically assigned as your city in the first stage, which simplifies the process.
For other Alliance races: first complete the chain for your home city, then take an additional chain for Ironforge. Each extra city means another 5 days of daily quests.
How to Earn Champion's Seals
Once you reach the rank of Champion, daily quests rewarding Champion's Seals become available. To buy the ram you only need 5 — that's one day of daily quests.
| Seal source | Amount per day |
|---|---|
| Champion daily quests | 2–4 |
| Argent Vanguard daily quests | 2–3 |
| Heroic Trial of the Champion | 1 |
| Total | 5–8 per day |
At max level (90 in Midnight), all tournament quests and duels are completed in mere minutes. The opponents are tuned for level 77–80 characters from the Wrath of the Lich King era and pose no threat.
Tips
Start with your home city — if your character isn't a dwarf, first complete the chain for your race. It's faster, and you'll immediately start earning Champion's Seals, which accumulate toward buying the Ironforge ram
Do all available daily quests — several categories of daily tasks are available at the tournament grounds at once. Take them all — the more seals per day, the faster you'll gather the required amount
Duels at max level are trivial — at level 90 the tournament NPCs die instantly. Don't waste time learning mounted combat mechanics — just attack the opponent in melee
Combine with pet farming — battle pets for Champion's Seals are sold at the Argent Tournament grounds. If you're a collector, farm seals for mounts and pets at the same time
Use a Dalaran Hearthstone — set your hearth to Dalaran (Northrend) while farming. This lets you quickly return to the tournament via a short flight
Check the other quartermasters — after reaching the rank of Champion of Ironforge, stop by the quartermasters of other cities. You may already have access to mounts you didn't know about
