Tamed Skitterfly

Tamed Skitterfly is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 10.0 of the Dragonflight expansion. It is a large winged insect tamed by Granpap Whiskers at the Dragonscale Expedition camp. The mount can be obtained for free through the "Skitterfly Riders" quest upon reaching Renown level 25 with the Dragonscale Expedition, or purchased from a vendor for supplies and feathers.

• Free to obtain — upon reaching 25 Renown with the Dragonscale Expedition, the "Skitterfly Riders" quest lets you choose the Tamed Skitterfly completely free of charge
• Unique insect model — skitterflies have an unusual design: they are giant dragonfly-like creatures with broad, semi-transparent wings and long legs. Few models like this exist in the mount collection
• Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air. Speed depends on your riding skill level: 60–100% on the ground and up to 310% in flight
• Available to all characters — once obtained, the mount becomes available on every character on your account
• A second mount through purchase — even if you chose the free Tamed Skitterfly, you can also buy the Azure Skitterfly from Granpap Whiskers for supplies and feathers, and vice versa

The Tamed Skitterfly is available in two ways: for free via a quest or by purchasing it from a vendor.

Method 1: The "Skitterfly Riders" Quest (Free)

1. Raise your Renown with the Dragonscale Expedition to level 25
2. After reaching 25 Renown, Granpap Whiskers at the Expedition camp will offer the "Skitterfly Riders" quest
3. Accept the quest and choose one of two rewards: the Tamed Skitterfly (black) or the Azure Skitterfly (blue)
4. Use the item you receive to learn the mount

Method 2: Purchase from a Vendor

If you chose the other skitterfly from the quest or want both, the Tamed Skitterfly can be bought from Granpap Whiskers or Cataloger Jakes for the following materials:

• 750 Dragon Isles Supplies
• 5 Iridescent Plumes
• 20 Contoured Fowlfeathers

Reaching Renown level 25 requires earning reputation points through various activities across the Dragon Isles. There is no weekly cap on the number of levels — progress as much as your time allows.

World Quests

Dragonscale Expedition world quests appear in all four zones of the expansion. Each quest grants Renown points. Quests refresh regularly.

The Weekly "Aiding the Accord" Quest

The weekly "Aiding the Accord" quest lets you direct your support to a specific faction. Choose the Dragonscale Expedition for the most efficient progress.

Exploration and Artifacts

The Dragonscale Expedition is a faction of explorers, so many activities related to exploring the world grant Renown points:

• Expedition Scout's Packs — scattered across all Dragon Isles zones. Each pack grants supplies and Renown points
• Dragon Isles Artifacts — can be turned in to Cataloger Jakes at the Expedition camp for 15 Renown points each
• Disturbed Dirt — chests marked on the map contain supplies and resources
• Planting Flags — at high vantage points across the Dragon Isles you can plant expedition flags for additional reputation

Special Activities

• Climbing (unlocks at 6 Renown) — unique world quests in which you must scale cliffs
• Cataloging (unlocks at 8 Renown) — photographing the wildlife of the Dragon Isles

Catch-Up for Alts

• Characters below Renown 10 gain +200% reputation
• Characters between Renown 10 and 20 gain +100% reputation

If you decide to buy the mount from a vendor (or want a second skitterfly), you will need three types of resources.

Dragon Isles Supplies (750)

This is the main Dragonflight currency, awarded by nearly every activity:

• World quests and weekly quests
• Expedition Scout's Packs and Disturbed Dirt
• Killing rare enemies and elite mobs
• Gear caches opened with Everburning Keys
• Obsidian chests

Iridescent Plumes (5)

Iridescent Plumes drop from large birds on the Dragon Isles: sunkissed eagles and longwing skyhunters. The plumes can also be bought from the Auction House — they are usually inexpensive.

Contoured Fowlfeathers (20)

Contoured Fowlfeathers drop from ducks and other waterfowl on the Dragon Isles. Ducks are found near bodies of water in all four zones. Contoured Fowlfeathers are also available on the Auction House for a token price.
