Tan Riding Camel
Overview

Tan Riding Camel is a ground mount added in the Cataclysm expansion (patch 4.0.3a). It is one of two camels sold by the quartermaster of the Ramkahen faction in Uldum. The tan camel has a light, sandy coloring and a distinctive swaying run animation — a true desert dweller.
The mount is purchased from Blacksmith Abasi in Ramkahen settlement for 80 gold at Exalted reputation with the Ramkahen. Obtaining it requires no complex quest chains or rare drops — you simply need to grind the reputation.
Why you want this mount
- Thematic look — the camel fits perfectly into the desert aesthetic of Uldum and Vol'dun. If you collect mounts by zone theme, the tan camel is a must-have
- Achievement — buying any of the camels (tan, brown or grey) counts toward the One Hump or Two? achievement
- Guaranteed acquisition — no RNG. Grind the reputation, pay the gold — the mount is yours
- Account-wide — once learned, the mount appears in the collection on every character on your account
- Fast grind — reputation with the Ramkahen builds up in a few hours thanks to the tabard and dungeons
Requirements
- Character level 10 or higher
- Riding skill: Apprentice Riding
- Exalted reputation with the Ramkahen faction
- 80 gold to purchase the mount
How to reach the vendor
Blacksmith Abasi is the Ramkahen quartermaster. He is located in Ramkahen settlement, in the central part of Uldum.
How to get to Uldum
- Head to the portal room in your faction's capital (Stormwind or Orgrimmar)
- Use the portal to Uldum — it is located among the portals to Cataclysm zones
- From the arrival point, fly southeast to Ramkahen settlement
Vendor coordinates
Blacksmith Abasi stands to the west of the main building in Ramkahen settlement. In addition to mounts, he sells the faction tabard, gear and other reputation rewards.
Step-by-step guide to obtaining it
Step 1 — Start the quest chain in Uldum
Head to Uldum and complete the zone's story quests. The Uldum questline is closely tied to the Ramkahen — the tol'vir, keepers of ancient titan knowledge. By completing the main quest chain, you will earn a significant portion of the reputation and reach Friendly.
Note: in the modern version of WoW, zone scaling lets you complete Uldum quests at any level, starting from 10.
Step 2 — Buy the Tabard of Ramkahen
Upon reaching Friendly with the Ramkahen, return to Blacksmith Abasi and buy the
Tabard of Ramkahen. The cost is 1 gold.
The tabard lets you earn reputation with the Ramkahen by killing creatures in Cataclysm expansion dungeons. This is the fastest way to grind the remaining reputation.
Step 3 — Grind reputation in dungeons
Put on the tabard and run Cataclysm dungeons. For maximum speed, the best options are:
- Halls of Origination — located right in Uldum, with a large number of mobs
- Lost City of the Tol'vir — also in Uldum, convenient for repeat runs
- Grim Batol — high mob density
On a high-level character, you will instantly clear Cataclysm dungeons. Every boss and every mob grants reputation while the tabard is equipped. The path from Friendly to Exalted takes roughly 2-3 hours of active dungeon farming.
Step 4 — Complete daily quests (optional)
If you prefer variety, two daily quests for the Ramkahen are available in Uldum:
- Pterrordax Hatchling — drive pygmies away from the crop beds, 150 reputation
- Fire From the Sky — operate an artillery piece and destroy waves of enemies, 150 reputation
Daily quests are a nice supplement, but not the main source of reputation. Daily quests alone won't be enough for a fast grind.
Step 5 — Buy the mount
Upon reaching Exalted, return to Blacksmith Abasi in Ramkahen. The
Reins of the Tan Riding Camel will appear in his inventory. Pay 80 gold, use the item — and the mount is in your collection forever.
Tips
Grab both camels at once. At Exalted, Blacksmith Abasi also sells the
Reins of the Brown Riding Camel. Both camels cost 80 gold each — buy both in one visit and complete the achievement
Reputation buff. Before farming, activate any reputation bonuses: racial buffs, anniversary events, contracts. Every percent speeds up the grind
Don't forget to wear the tabard. A common mistake is forgetting to equip the
Tabard of Ramkahen before starting a dungeon. Without the tabard, mob kills won't grant reputation with the Ramkahen
Alternative vendor. Blacksmith Abasi is not the only seller of the camel. The NPC Plenn in Zandalar Harbor (Dazar'alor) also sells Cataclysm faction mounts, including the tan camel — provided you are Exalted with the Ramkahen
The grey camel is a different story. Don't confuse the tan camel with the Reins of the Grey Riding Camel. The grey camel drops from the rare NPC Dormus the Camel-Hoarder in Uldum and requires a completely different approach
Halls of Origination is the best choice. This dungeon is located right in Uldum, contains many mobs and halls. On a high-level character, a single run takes 5-7 minutes and brings a noticeable reputation gain
