Get Terestian's Stranglestaff

Terestian's Stranglestaff is an epic two-handed staff hailing from The Burning Crusade expansion. Its head is shaped like a living octopus tentacle that writhes right in the middle of combat — arguably one of the most unusual and recognizable staff models of that era. Its greenish-brown coloring and organic, almost swampy silhouette make it a striking choice for dark, druidic, or otherworldly looks.

The staff drops in Karazhan — Medivh's old tower in the south of the Eastern Kingdoms. These days it is a long-outdated raid, so players are drawn to it not by its stats but by its appearance: the staff is valued purely as a transmog.

The staff comes as a drop from one of Karazhan's bosses.

• Boss: Terestian Illhoof, a satyr hidden in the tower's library behind a bookcase.
• Location: Karazhan, in the south of the Deadwind Pass zone (Eastern Kingdoms).
• The raid entrance sits at the southern tip of the pass, coordinates /way 47.0 73.0.
• The staff's drop chance from Terestian is around 18%, which is quite generous for a transmog farm.
• Bound to the character on pickup, with no limit on the number of attempts — the raid can be re-entered once a week.

Karazhan has long been soloable. At the Midnight level cap, any class clears the tower with ease, and Terestian Illhoof himself has no mechanics capable of troubling a solo player. The only quirk is that he must be "unsealed": the boss hides behind a bookcase in the library that opens on interaction.

• Pairs well with dark green and swampy armor palettes, for example sets in the style of the Legion or the Emerald Dream.
• Looks striking in the hands of a warlock or shadow priest as a nod to otherworldly, demonic motifs.
