The Topskimmer Special

The Topskimmer Special is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 11.1 of The War Within expansion. It is a purple goblin rocket purchased from Smaks Topskimmer, quartermaster of the Cartels of Undermine, for 11,375 Resonance Crystals at renown level 19 with the faction.

The Topskimmer Special is one of five color variants of the Undermine goblin rockets. The purple variant belongs to the umbrella Cartels faction, while the black, yellow, green, and red versions are sold by the quartermasters of the individual cartels.

• Guaranteed acquisition — unlike mounts with a percentage drop chance, The Topskimmer Special is bought from a vendor. Once you reach the required renown level and gather the crystals, the mount is yours.
• Ground and flying — the rocket works both on the ground (+100% speed) and in the air (up to +310% flight speed). The model changes its animation depending on the movement type.
• Goblin style — the purple rocket with its distinctive goblin design fits the Undermine aesthetic perfectly. A great pick for fans of goblin engineering.

How to Get There

1. Use the portal to Undermine from Dornogal or your faction's capital
2. Once in Undermine, find the Incontinental Hotel — it is the central hub building of the zone (coordinates roughly 43, 51)
3. Enter the hotel lobby. Smaks Topskimmer stands to the left of the reception desk

The Incontinental Hotel serves as the main hub of Undermine, and it also houses a mailbox, a bank, and other vendors.

Step 1: Unlock Undermine

Complete the patch 11.1 introductory quest chain that begins with the quest Down Undermine. After finishing the introductory quests, you will gain access to the zone, world quests, and the cartel system.

Step 2: Choose a Cartel

Four cartels operate in Undermine: Bilgewater, Steamwheedle, Blackwater, and the Venture Company. Each week you can sign a contract with one of the cartels at the Incontinental Hotel. Choosing a cartel unlocks quests and bonus activities for that cartel while also increasing your overall renown with the Cartels of Undermine faction.

Step 3: Raise Renown to Level 19

Complete weekly cartel contracts, world quests, story chapters, and side activities in Undermine. Read the next section for more on renown sources.

Step 4: Save Up 11,375 Resonance Crystals

Alongside raising renown, collect Resonance Crystals. This currency is shared across your entire warband, so your alts can help with the gathering.

Step 5: Buy the Mount

Once you reach renown level 19, head to Smaks Topskimmer at the Incontinental Hotel. Purchase The Topskimmer Special for 11,375 Resonance Crystals and use the item to add the mount to your collection.

The Cartels of Undermine is an umbrella renown faction for the four cartels of Undermine. Raising reputation with any cartel simultaneously increases your overall renown.

Story Chapters (main one-time source)

Each chapter of the Undermine story campaign grants 2,500 reputation points. This is the largest one-time bonus — be sure to complete the entire campaign as early as possible.

Weekly Quests

Three weekly quests grant 1,000 reputation points each. They reset every week and are the main regular source of progress.

World Quests

World quests in Undermine appear after you choose a weekly cartel. Regular quests grant 50 points, while special Undermine quests grant 200 points.

Rare Enemies

Killing rare mobs in Undermine grants daily reputation:

• Regular rares — 20 points
• Elite rares — 50 points
• Cartel-summoned rares — 100 points

Side Quests

One-time side quests in Undermine grant 100–200 reputation points each.

How Long It Will Take

Thanks to the generous bonus from story chapters, raising renown to level 19 will take several weeks of active play. The exact timeline depends on your activity: with daily quest completion and timely clearing of weekly content, progress will be steady.

Buying the mount requires 11,375 Resonance Crystals. This currency is obtained from numerous sources across Khaz Algar and Undermine.

Main Sources

• Skyriding races — each race with a gold result (standard, reverse, advanced) grants up to 345 crystals in total. One of the fastest sources
• Delves — completing delves and opening chests grants crystals. Delve milestones give up to 5,000 crystals
• Weekly caches — completing the weekly meta-quest rewards a cache with 900 crystals
• World quests — completing world quests across Khaz Algar steadily grants crystals
• Rare enemies — killing rare mobs in the Khaz Algar zones
• Glowing orbs — while skyriding, collect small shining orbs in the air; each one grants 1 crystal
• Kej exchange — at the vendor Ka'Muko you can exchange Kej for crystals at a 2:1 ratio

Resonance Crystals are a warband currency, so crystals earned on any character are available to the entire account. Use alts to speed up farming.
