Trader's Gilded Brutosaur — How to Get the Auction House Mount
Trader's Gilded Brutosaur

Reins of the Trader's Gilded Brutosaur is a massive Zandalari dinosaur with gilded tack adorned with gemstones honoring every World of Warcraft expansion. It is one of only two mounts in the game that provide access to the auction house on the go. On the brutosaur's back sit two NPCs: auctioneer Killia and mail carrier Melanie Morten.
The mount is sold exclusively through the Battle.net shop and the in-game store for real money or Blizzard balance. It cannot be purchased directly with in-game gold, but there is a workaround through WoW Tokens.
Why You Want This Mount
The Trader's Gilded Brutosaur is not just a collectible model. It is a fully functional tool that saves time for every active player.
- Auction house on the go. NPC Killia lets you list and buy auction house lots anywhere in the world. You no longer need to return to a city between farming sessions.
- Mailbox. NPC Melanie Morten provides access to the mailbox — receive items from the auction house, send materials to alts, and collect NPC mail.
- Three-seat vehicle. Besides you, two passengers can ride on the brutosaur.
- Status. The brutosaur with an auction house is one of the most recognizable and expensive mounts in the game. In any city, players will gather around you to use your auctioneer.
In essence, it is the spiritual successor to the legendary
Mighty Caravan Brutosaur, which cost 5,000,000 gold in Battle for Azeroth and is now only available on the Black Market Auction House for astronomical sums.
How to Get the Gilded Brutosaur
Buying with Real Money
The simplest method is to purchase the mount in the Battle.net shop or through the in-game store (button in the game menu). Cost:
| Region | Price |
|---|---|
| US | $90 |
| Europe | €78 |
After purchase, the mount instantly appears in the collection of all characters on your account.
Buying with WoW Tokens (for Gold)
If you do not want to spend real money, the mount can be paid for with Blizzard balance accumulated through
WoW Tokens. Each token converts to $15 (US) or €13 (EU) of Battle.net balance.
How many tokens you need:
| Region | Mount Price | Token Value | Tokens Needed | Gold per Token (approx.) | Total Gold |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| US | $90 | $15 | 6 tokens | ~225,000 | ~1,350,000 |
| Europe | €78 | €13 | 6 tokens | ~318,000 | ~1,908,000 |
Step-by-step purchase via tokens:
- Open the auction house in-game and buy a WoW Token for gold. The token price fluctuates based on demand — check the current price at WoW Token Prices or WoWToken.app.
- Open the token in your bag and select "Convert to Battle.net Balance."
- Repeat for each token until you have accumulated enough balance.
- Go to the in-game store or the Battle.net website and pay for the mount with accumulated balance.
Note: Token prices rise significantly during brutosaur sale periods due to increased demand. It is more cost-effective to stock up on tokens in advance, before the next sale window is announced.
Mount Availability — Sale Windows
The Trader's Gilded Brutosaur is a mount with limited-time availability. Blizzard places it in the store for a few weeks, then removes it from sale.
| Sale Window | Period | Event |
|---|---|---|
| First | October 26, 2024 — January 6, 2025 | WoW 20th Anniversary, Warcraft 30th Anniversary |
| Second | November 17, 2025 — January 5, 2026 | Holiday Season |
As of this guide's writing (March 2026), the mount is not available in the store. However, Blizzard has already brought it back twice, and the probability of a third appearance is high — follow news on the official website.
If you want to purchase the mount at its next appearance, we recommend accumulating balance via WoW Tokens in advance to avoid overpaying during the rush.

The brutosaur is a ground mount. In zones where flying is permitted, you will move on the ground. For fast travel between points, use a flying mount, and summon the brutosaur when you need access to the auction house or mailbox.
NPC Functions on the Mount
Auctioneer Killia
Killia functions as a full auctioneer. Through her you can:
- Browse and buy lots
- List items for sale
- Collect gold and unsold items
Access to the auction house is available not only to the mount owner but also to any nearby players. If you stand in a busy area, other players can use your auctioneer.
Mail Carrier Melanie Morten
Melanie Morten serves as a mailbox. Through her you can:
- Receive incoming letters and attachments
- Send letters and items to other players
- Collect auction house purchases
This is the only mount in the game that combines an auction house and a mailbox simultaneously. The original
Mighty Caravan Brutosaur did not have a mailbox.
Comparison with the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur
Many players confuse the two mounts. Here are the key differences:
| Parameter | Mighty Caravan Brutosaur | Trader's Gilded Brutosaur |
|---|---|---|
| Auction House | Yes | Yes |
| No | Yes | |
| Passengers | 2 | 2 |
| Source | Was 5,000,000 gold (BfA), now only Black Market | Battle.net shop, $90 |
| Availability | Extremely rare on Black Market | Periodically in the store |
| Appearance | Standard tack | Gilded tack with gemstones |
Even if you already own the original brutosaur, the gilded version is still useful thanks to the built-in mailbox.
Tips and Recommendations
Save gold in advance. If the mount returns to the store, token prices will spike in the first few days. When the mount first appeared in 2024, EU token prices jumped to 400,000–450,000 gold. Buy tokens during calm periods.
Use the brutosaur while farming. Summon the mount between raid and dungeon runs — sell unwanted loot through the auction house or send materials via mail to a banker alt.
Bring friends along. The mount seats three. Bring friends who don't have an auction house mount.
Follow Blizzard announcements. The mount appears in the store without much advance notice. Subscribe to WoW news at Battle.net or follow updates on Wowhead.
Budget alternative. If the brutosaur is too expensive for you, engineers can use
Portable Auction House — a single-use item that deploys an auction house for 10 minutes. There is also an engineering toy with a long cooldown.
