Overview

Trained Silverpelt

Trained Silverpelt is a ground mount added in the Warlords of Draenor expansion. It is obtained through a chain of daily quests in the Garrison Stables in Draenor. According to lore, the silverpelt talbuk is prized for its intelligence: the breed is trainable and capable of dealing defensive blows with its hooves and horns in combat.

In the current patch 11.1 (TWW S2, 2026) the mount remains fully obtainable — the Draenor garrison and its buildings are still there, so you can earn the talbuk at any time on a level 80 character (and technically even earlier — the quests are tuned for level 40).

Why you want this mount

  • A stylish ground mount with a distinctive grayish coat and an elegant running animation.
  • The quest line requires no raids, dungeons, or RNG — everything is done solo.
  • It grants up to 1620 Garrison Resources along the way, which is handy for upgrading your garrison.
  • It counts toward the Draenor Matchmaker achievement and unlocks access to reward mounts such as the Armored Frostwolf.

Requirements

  • A character level 40 and above (by 2026 most players are already level 80)
  • A level 2 garrison — needed to buy the Stables blueprint
  • A level 1 Stables in the garrison — sufficient for the entire chain
  • Access to Draenor: Shadowmoon Valley and Nagrand are the zones where the key quests take place
  • Around 12 in-game days of real time (the quests are daily; missing a single day is not critical)

Step 1 — Building the Stables

The Stables is a large garrison building, meaning it is built in a large plot (there are only two of them).

  1. Level your garrison up to level 2 — this requires completing the starting quest chain in Draenor and accumulating resources.
  2. Buy the Stables blueprint from the garrison architect.
  3. Place the Stables in a large plot and wait for construction to finish.
  4. Once built, a quest giver will appear in the building — Fanny Firebeard for the Alliance, Sage Paluna for the Horde.

Step 2 — Catching the silverpelt talbuk

The first talbuk quest is offered 1–2 days after the Stables are built (each of the six mounts has its own unlock sequence).

  1. Take the quest "Taming the Talbuk" from the quest giver.
  2. You will be given a Talbuk Lasso.
  3. Head to Shadowmoon Valley — young silverpelt talbuks graze on the flowering hills.
  4. Use the lasso on a young silverpelt.
  5. You will be flung onto the animal's back, and it will start to run off. Just hang on — after a while the talbuk will tire out.
  6. Turn in the quest at the Stables. From this point you will have a Talbuk Trainee, which you will ride for the next 10 days.

Step 3 — 10 days of training

Each day Fanny/Paluna will offer a new daily training quest. The idea is always the same: take a whistle, summon the Talbuk Trainee, and kill a certain number of mobs while mounted on it.

Key training rules:

  • Always use the provided whistle to mount the Talbuk Trainee. No other mount will work for the quest.
  • The mobs are of a specific type — usually in various Draenor zones (Frostfire Ridge, Gorgrond, Talador, Nagrand).
  • It is recommended to take the quests for the other mounts in parallel — this saves you time.
  • If you miss a day, no problem — progress is not reset, the finale just shifts back.

After 10 days of training your talbuk is ready for the final trial.

Step 4 — Final trial: Maimclaw

Quest: Talbuk Training: The Garn.

  1. Take the quest at the Stables.
  2. Head to Nagrand — the quest objective is to defeat a huge garn wolf named Maimclaw while mounted on the Talbuk Trainee.
  3. Summon the talbuk with the whistle and attack Maimclaw. At level 80 the fight is trivial, but do not dismount — otherwise the quest will not count.
  4. Turn in the quest to Fanny/Paluna.
  5. As a reward you receive the Trained Silverpelt and 50 Garrison Resources.

The mount is added to your collection automatically when you use the item from your bags.

Optimizing the run

  • Collect all 6 mounts in parallel. The Stables gradually unlock one talbuk/boar/elekk/riverbeast/wolf and a second mount per day. Take all available dailies at once — this way you get all six mounts in about 16 days, instead of 16×6.
  • Use level 2 and 3 Stables for bonuses. Level 2 Stables grant immunity to stuns from mobs while mounted in Draenor, and level 3 gives +20% mount speed in the zone. This speeds up training.
  • Do not sell the "Talbuk Whistle" item — it is only needed during the chain, but deleting it will break the quest.
  • Even after demolishing the Stables, the mounts you have already earned stay in your collection forever. The building can be replaced after the chain is complete.
  • Group up. Many of the target mobs are easier to kill in a pair, especially if you play a class without self-healing.
  • Watch for the daily reset — new quests appear at 7:00 server time.

Tips

1

At level 80 all Draenor mobs deal laughable damage, so you can complete the chain on any class and specialization.

2

If you are returning to an old account, check — some of the quests may already be done. Look at the achievement log in your garrison.

3

The mount's model uses the shared talbuk skeleton but a unique "silver fur" texture — do not confuse it with the war talbuks of Nagrand from the Burning Crusade era.

4

This mount requires no riding license and is available to all races and classes able to use ground mounts.

5

If you are aiming for the Draenor Matchmaker achievement, be sure to obtain all six Draenor mounts from the Stables — the silverpelt talbuk is one of the key items on the list.
