Torturing Poker is a one-handed dagger of rare quality and one of the oldest weapon models in World of Warcraft. It is a short blade with a crude metal grip and a narrow, jagged edge: the model is austere and instantly recognizable, with no flashy effects or glow. It is precisely this restrained, almost utilitarian silhouette that makes it a handy piece for looks where the shine of artifacts would be out of place.

The dagger belongs to the earliest content in the game and was long considered lost: it was removed from World of Warcraft along with the dungeon rework in patch 5.0.4. The appearance returned to circulation in patch 10.1.7 of the Dragonflight expansion, through the "Scarlet Monastery of old" system, which reopened access to the original wings of the dungeon. Today it is a fully fledged collectible appearance, available to any character who reaches the source.

The dagger is not tied to an armor class and suits every specialization that uses daggers: rogues, druids, warlocks, priests, shamans and mages. For transmogrification only the appearance itself matters, not the item's stats.

The appearance is obtained as a drop from the bosses of the original dungeon and requires some preparation beforehand — without it the old wings of the Scarlet Monastery are inaccessible.

Who drops the item and where:

• The dagger drops from Interrogator Vishas, the first boss of the "Graveyard" wing in the original Scarlet Monastery.
• The dungeon is located in the Tirisfal Glades zone, north-east of the Undercity.
• The drop chance is high — around 50% — so the appearance is usually collected in one or two runs.
• The dungeon can be cleared solo on any modern character within a few minutes.

How to gain access to the old dungeon:

The wings of the original Scarlet Monastery do not open right away. First you need to obtain the item The Scarlet Key. There are three ways:

• The key can drop from the pumpkin of presents during the autumn Hallow's End event — it is given for the first kill of the day on the Headless Horseman.
• The key sits in Doan's chest in the "Library" wing of the active Scarlet Monastery — you can get there with a friend who already has access.
• A ready-made key is often sold at the auction house for a small amount of gold.

With the key in your bag, head to the entrance of the Scarlet Monastery in the Tirisfal Glades, climb the stairs and find the old set of keys at the end of the corridor. It gives the quest The Scarlet Key — once it is turned in, permanent access to the original wings of the dungeon opens for every character on your account. After that the "Graveyard" wing is free to enter and you no longer need a key for it.

• Suits the looks of mercenaries, rogues and bounty hunters, where the weapon looks like a working tool rather than a trophy.
• Harmonizes with leather sets in dark and earthy tones — the plain metal of the blade does not clash with a muted armor palette.
• Looks good paired with another understated melee weapon: for a look in the spirit of old Azeroth, overall austerity matters.
• Fits "historical" builds inspired by vanilla content — the dagger hails from the very first set of dungeons.
• Contrasts with glowing artifact blades — a debatable but deliberate choice for those who intentionally step away from pompous effects.
