Tracker's Blade — Transmog Set Guide
Overview
Tracker's Blade is a one-handed dagger of epic quality, added to World of Warcraft with The Burning Crusade expansion. It is a compact short blade with a practical shape, free of pronounced decorative overlays and without any bright magical glow. The model is kept in a calm hunting style and fits the look of a ranger or scout well — hence the name.
The dagger is suitable for all specializations that use this weapon type in one hand — rogues, hunters and warriors. In terms of stats the item carries agility, critical strike rating and haste rating, requires level 30 and becomes soulbound when acquired.
For transmogrification only the appearance matters. It is enough to obtain the dagger once on any eligible character on the account for the appearance to be permanently unlocked in the appearance collection and become available to all characters with specializations that can wield daggers.
Source
Tracker's Blade drops from the boss Rage Winterchill — the first opponent of the Hyjal Summit raid. The boss is undead, opens up the raid, and you will have to kill him in any case in order to progress further.
- The raid belongs to The Burning Crusade era and is designed for 25 players, but at the current level it is cleared solo without any trouble.
- The item's drop chance is around 14–15 % per kill, according to Wowhead. This is a comparatively generous figure for an epic item.
- The limit is one run per week per character, so with bad luck the farm stretches out over several weeks.
- The dagger has no alternative source: the appearance is obtained only from this boss in this raid.
How to get into the raid
The entrance to Hyjal Summit is located inside the Caverns of Time dungeon — this is a location in the east of the Tanaris zone in Kalimdor.
- Get to the Caverns of Time: their entrance is located in Tanaris.
- In the capitals — Orgrimmar and Stormwind — there is a portal to the Caverns of Time, this is the fastest route.
- Go down the winding path to the bottom of the cavern to the cluster of dungeon and raid portals.
- The raid attunement chain was removed long ago: you can enter without any prior quests.
Before the boss itself you need to survive several waves of undead that roll onto the camp at the entrance. At the current level the waves are cut down in mere seconds and pose no serious obstacle.
Alternatives
Tracker's Blade has no known color recolors with separate item identifiers — it is a standalone model from The Burning Crusade era. If you need a short dagger similar in silhouette, it is worth looking at other compact blades from the same generation of content.
- Simple one-handed daggers from The Burning Crusade dungeons and raids are the closest in spirit appearances of the same stylistic range.
- Hunting and ranger daggers from Outland quest rewards have a similar theme and a similar color palette.
- Simple steel blades from old classic-era raids work as a substitute if this dagger has not dropped yet.
If you want exactly this appearance, you should farm Tracker's Blade itself — no other item has the exact same model.
Who it suits visually
- Suits rogue-ranger looks: the concise compact model fits neatly into practical leather sets in dark and earthy tones.
- Harmonizes with hunter armor in a brown-gray range — for example, with old leather sets from The Burning Crusade era.
- Appropriate in wanderer and scout looks, where the weapon should look like a working tool rather than a ceremonial piece.
- Looks good paired with the same or a similar dagger in the off-hand for rogues — two simple blades form a cohesive ranger silhouette.
- Contrasts with richly decorated plate armor — a debatable but expressive combination of a modest blade with heavy armor.
Tips
The main path to the appearance is a weekly run into the Hyjal Summit raid and killing Rage Winterchill, so build this raid into your weekly old-content rotation.
At the current level the raid is cleared solo quickly: Rage Winterchill is killed in mere seconds, and the run to the first boss takes a few minutes.
Since the dagger is soulbound when acquired, each character on the account has their own chance at the drop — add the boss to the route on several alts to increase the overall frequency of attempts.
The drop chance is around 14–15 % per run, so be prepared for several weeks of farming before the appearance reliably drops.
The appearance is unlocked in the transmogrification collection immediately after obtaining the item — you do not need to wear the dagger on a combat specialization.
It is most convenient to farm on classes with fast movement speed and strong single-target damage — for example, on a demon hunter or a druid in cat form.
Before the boss itself you need to kill several waves of undead, so keep area abilities ready — at the current level the waves are cut down in mere seconds.
Do not confuse this raid with the similarly named scenario about the War of the Ancients: Tracker's Blade drops only in the raid of The Burning Crusade era, not in later versions of the battles for Hyjal.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
