Overview

Tropical Riding Crane

Game iconReins of the Tropical Riding Crane is a ground mount added to World of Warcraft alongside the limited-time event WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria (patch 10.2.7, May 2024). It is a huge Pandaren crane with a rich green-emerald coloration that echoes the tones of the ferns and moss of The Jade Forest. According to Blizzard's description, the tropical crane is a native inhabitant of the Jade Forest that uses its color as natural camouflage among the dense foliage.

The mount was sold for Bronze — the internal currency of the Remix event — by the dwarf Hemet Nesingwary XVII, who stood in every Infinite Bazaar across all the zones of Pandaria. The cost was 2,200 Bronze. After the event ended on August 19, 2024, the mount became unavailable for purchase and remained only with those players who managed to buy it during the Remix window.

Why you want this mount

  • Limited-event exclusive — the Reins of the Tropical Riding Crane were only handed out during WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria and are no longer sold. The mount instantly became a collectible rarity and highlights the status of a player who was there for the event.
  • Speed 10 out of 10 — the ground mount gains a +60% or +100% movement speed bonus depending on your riding skill, meaning it travels at the top speed of any ground transport.
  • Unique green coloration — unlike the classic azure, golden, and regal cranes from Mists of Pandaria, the tropical color only appeared in Remix along with five other new variants and does not overlap with the regular collection.
  • Account-wide availability — once obtained, the mount unlocks for all characters on your account, regardless of faction and class.
  • Low Bronze price — 2,200 Bronze is the minimum cost among the mounts in Hemet Nesingwary XVII's stock. A single active play session in the event gathered enough currency to buy the mount without lengthy farming.

How to obtain

The only path to the mount ran through the limited-time event WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria. Today the item is unavailable for retail purchase, but according to historical data the process was as follows.

  1. Create or choose a Timerunner character in the Remix: Mists of Pandaria event (available from May 16 to August 19, 2024)
  2. Complete the Pandaria campaign, daily quests, scenarios, dungeons, and raids to accumulate Bronze
  3. Open the map and find the nearest Infinite Bazaar — the camps of the infinite dragonflight are placed in every zone of Pandaria: The Jade Forest, Valley of the Four Winds, Kun-Lai Summit, Townlong Steppes, and Vale of Eternal Blossoms
  4. Approach Hemet Nesingwary XVII and open his storefront
  5. Buy the Game iconReins of the Tropical Riding Crane for 2,200 Bronze
  6. Use the item — the mount is automatically added to your account's collection

The crane series at Hemet Nesingwary XVII

The tropical crane is one of six new variants added alongside the Remix event. All of them were sold by the same vendor for the same price and differed only in the coloration of the model. If you caught the event, it was most beneficial to buy the entire series at once.

The mount's classic relatives

The Pandaren riding crane model first appeared in the original Mists of Pandaria expansion and was sold by the quartermasters of the Golden Lotus faction. These variants are still available in the current version of the game and can complement your crane collection.

To farm reputation with the Golden Lotus, head to the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and complete the daily quests at the faction command in the Shrine of Seven Stars or the Shrine of Two Moons.

Ways to earn Bronze in the event

Buying the mount for 2,200 Bronze takes only one or two days of active play in the event. If you plan to collect the entire crane series (13,200 Bronze for six), it's worth knowing the most efficient sources of currency.

  1. Pandaria campaign — the main storyline and each zone's campaigns hand out large one-time sums and close out reputations
  2. Daily and weekly quests — leveling the Mists of Pandaria factions through dailies gives a steady inflow of Bronze
  3. Scenarios and dungeons — every clear rewards Bronze, gear, and threads of power
  4. Mists of Pandaria raids — Mogu'shan, Heart of Fear, Terrace of Endless Spring, Throne of Thunder, the Firelands, and the Siege of Orgrimmar give the highest density of Bronze over time
  5. Leveling alts to level 70 — each new Timerunner brought about 40,000 Bronze just for reaching max level, plus campaign rewards
  6. Daily login bonus and Bronze orbs — guaranteed Bronze for logging in each day of the event and random orbs in the skies of Pandaria that give small portions of currency

Tips

1

If you missed the event, you cannot get the mount — Blizzard officially confirmed that the exclusive Remix mounts do not return on a permanent basis. However, the company periodically runs repeat Remix seasons (Pandaria, Legion, etc.), so keep an eye on announcements.

2

Don't confuse it with the classic Pandaria cranes — the azure, golden, and regal are still available through reputation with the Golden Lotus, and many players mistakenly consider them Remix exclusives.

3

The mount unlocks account-wide — there's no need to buy the tropical crane again on other characters. Use it once and it appears for everyone.

4

Check your collection before buying — if you took part in Remix and don't remember whether you managed to buy the mount, open the collections journal (Shift+P) and look for the tropical crane in the ground mounts section.

5

The tropical crane is no different in stats — in-game it is an identical ground mount with +60 / +100% speed. There are no special animations or hidden bonuses beyond the base model.

6

It thematically fits The Jade Forest — the green color blends perfectly with the landscapes of Pandaria's starting zone. If you collect mounts to match locations, the tropical crane is a top pick for screenshots in The Jade Forest.

7

Watch Hemet Nesingwary XVII's stock carefully — besides the six new cranes, he also sold some rare retail mounts at a price of 18,700–38,500 Bronze. If you have old save data with Bronze left over, this is your chance to fill the gaps in your collection.
