Overview

Trust of a Fierce Wolfhawk

Game iconTrust of a Fierce Wolfhawk is a flying hunter class mount added to World of Warcraft in the Legion expansion (patch 7.2). The item teaches the spell Game iconHuntmaster's Fierce Wolfhawk, which summons a massive green-tinted hybrid of a wolf and an eagle from the feathermane family. It is one of three color variants of the hunter class mount, alongside the loyal and dire wolfhawks.

Unlike the basic Game iconTrust of a Loyal Wolfhawk, which is awarded for a story quest, the fierce variant is purchased at the Order armory for 1,000 Order Resources. The mount is bound to the character on pickup, available only to the hunter class, and unlocks for every hunter on the account.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Unique model — the wolfhawk belongs to the feathermane family and is a flying hybrid of a wolf and a bird of prey. No other mount in the game has this silhouette.
  • Green coloring — the fierce variant stands out with a rich green-brown coloring and feathered wings, distinct from the orange loyal and gray-blue dire counterparts.
  • Hunter class exclusive — the mount cannot be obtained by any other class. For collectors it is a must-have entry on the list of Legion class mounts.
  • Flying mode — unlike many other ground mounts from older add-ons, the wolfhawk supports flight. In current zones it flies at speeds up to +310% with the "Master Riding" skill.
  • Account-wide access — once obtained on one hunter, the mount unlocks in the collection of all your hunters. With multiple hunters, a single purchase is enough.
  • Part of a three-color collection — together with the Game iconTrust of a Loyal Wolfhawk and the Game iconHuntmaster's Dire Wolfhawk, it completes the full set of hunter class mounts

Requirements and Prerequisites

To purchase the Game iconTrust of a Fierce Wolfhawk you need:

  • Class: hunter only
  • Minimum level: 45 (in The War Within any hunter is long past it)
  • Riding skill: Apprentice Riding (ground mode), Master Riding (flight)
  • Base mount: you must already own the Game iconTrust of a Loyal Wolfhawk. Without it the vendor refuses to sell the fierce variant
  • Currency: 1,000 Order Resources

To obtain the basic loyal wolfhawk, you must first:

  1. Complete the hunter class campaign at Trueshot Lodge
  2. Finish the Legionfall campaign on the Broken Shore
  3. Earn the achievement Breaching the Tomb — the Broken Shore meta-achievement
  4. Complete the final scenario Night of the Wilds, which rewards the basic mount

How to Obtain

The full path from scratch to the fierce variant looks like this:

  1. Head to the Broken Isles on your hunter. In TWW the easiest way is to use the command board from the capital city or a portal from Dalaran.
  2. Complete the hunter class campaign at Trueshot Lodge in Highmountain. Enemy levels scale automatically — there will be no trouble at level 80.
  3. Unlock the Broken Shore and complete the Legionfall campaign (the quest chain from Delvar Ironfist at Deliverance Point)
  4. Close out the meta-achievement Breaching the Tomb
  5. Pick up the quest Night of the Wilds from Nimi Brightcastle at Deliverance Point. Enable "Beast Tracking" on the minimap — without it the scenario clues will not appear.
  6. Run the scenario: track down the hawk spirit Vetholnir, the wolf spirit Fereki, and the wolfhawk spirit Hoekenulfnir near Trueshot Lodge. Receive the Game iconTrust of a Loyal Wolfhawk and a Chest of Boundless Treasure.
  7. Accumulate 1,000 Order Resources if you have not already. The currency continues to accrue from world quests on the Broken Isles and mission posts from the Lodge.
  8. Return to Trueshot Lodge and approach Pan the Kind Hand — she is a pandaren beast keeper near the main building.
  9. Buy the Game iconTrust of a Fierce Wolfhawk from her for 1,000 Order Resources.
  10. Use the item — the spell Game iconHuntmaster's Fierce Wolfhawk is added to your mount collection.

Wolfhawk Color Variants

All three hunter class wolfhawks are sold by the same vendor once you have obtained the base one. They can be bought in any order as long as you have enough currency.

Variant Color Source Cost
Game iconTrust of a Loyal Wolfhawk Orange-brown Quest Night of the Wilds Free (story reward)
Game iconTrust of a Fierce Wolfhawk Green Pan the Kind Hand 1,000 Order Resources
Game iconHuntmaster's Dire Wolfhawk Gray-blue Pan the Kind Hand 1,000 Order Resources

Historically both purchasable variants required the second specialization's artifact to be leveled to a certain point, but patch 8.0.1 removed that requirement. Now all you need is to own the base loyal wolfhawk.

How to Reach Trueshot Lodge

Trueshot Lodge — the armory of the hunter Order — sits high in the mountains of Highmountain on the Broken Isles. There are several ways to get there.

  1. Hunter command board — the spell Call of the Lodge teleports you straight to the Lodge. This is the fastest route. The spell is learned automatically during the Order's intro chain
  2. Via Dalaran — your spellbook should contain a Game iconDalaran Hearthstone. From Dalaran, use the hunter command board
  3. On foot from Highmountain — if the class hall is unavailable, fly to the coordinates on a flying mount

Pan the Kind Hand stands near the main building of the lodge, beside the stables. She also sells the tome Game iconTome of the Hybrid Beast for 1,000 Order Resources — the book unlocks the ability to tame feathermanes as pets.

How to Farm Order Resources Quickly

Order Resources are the Legion currency of the hunter class hall. At level 80 you can gather them in one or two evenings through several methods:

  • Mission posts from the Lodge — even years after Legion, the mission table keeps generating tasks that reward Order Resources. Launch the missions automatically through the interface
  • World quests on the Broken Isles — some quests still reward Resources
  • Rare caches — golden chests scattered across the Broken Shore, Stormheim, Highmountain, and Val'sharah often hold from 5 to 50 Order Resources
  • Daily trainer quests — with the hunter campaign active, some dailies convert into currency
  • Valuable trinkets from Legion raids — some gray items from the Tomb of Sargeras and the Nighthold yield Order Resources when disenchanted

If you need to gather currency quickly, open the mission interface and launch as many at once as possible — in 4-6 hours you will have the full amount you need.

Farm Optimization and Collecting

  • Save up for both variants at once — if you are already going for the fierce one, knowingly gather 2,000 Order Resources and grab the Game iconHuntmaster's Dire Wolfhawk in a single trip. You will not have to come back a second time
  • Do not waste the currency — until you have bought both mounts, do not spend Order Resources on cosmetic items and mission upgrades. Pan sells them too, but the mounts matter more for the collection
  • Combine with other goals at the Lodge — at the Lodge is Aromander, who deals in the hunter class hall transmog. If you came for the mount, take a look at his stock while you are there
  • Leveling a hunter alt is optional — the mount is account-bound, so you only need to do the entire path once on any hunter
  • Remember the Tome of the Hybrid Beast — if you want to tame feathermanes as pets, set aside another 1,000 Order Resources for the Game iconTome of the Hybrid Beast — sold in the same place by Pan.

Tips

1

Enable "Beast Tracking" before the Night of the Wilds scenario — without it the clues (tracks, feathers, eggs) will not appear in the quest chain, and the scenario turns into blind wandering.

2

Complete the Legionfall campaign once on your main — Breaching the Tomb has account-wide achievement status. On hunter alts the first two intro quests of the Broken Shore are enough, then you can start Night of the Wilds right away.

3

Travel on foot only within the Lodge — inside the class hall mounts are unavailable, and you will have to get around on foot. Pan is literally 15 seconds from the arrival point.

4

Keep the Chest of Boundless Treasure at max — the reward for Night of the Wilds contains gear that scales. Do not open the chest until your hunter reaches the target level.

5

If you already have a Loyal Wolfhawk from past years — you can go for the fierce one right now, with nothing extra to complete. Just gather 1,000 Order Resources and visit Pan the Kind Hand.

6

The fierce wolfhawk is strikingly spectacular in the air — the green hue and sweeping feathers are clearly visible in flight, making it one of the most expressive Legion class mounts. A great choice for photo shoots and screenshots.
