Overview

Twinblade of the Hakkari

Game iconTwinblade of the Hakkari is a one-handed dagger of rare quality, added to World of Warcraft with the rework of the Zul'Gurub dungeon in the Cataclysm expansion (patch 4.1.0). This is not a single weapon but a pair: in addition to the Twinblade of the Hakkari slot, the final boss also drops a second copy of the Game iconTwinblade of the Hakkari. Both share the same name and use the same model, so the assembled pair looks like a set of two identical blades.

The main feature of this dagger — the reason it is still farmed — is its appearance. Among transmog collectors, the Twinblade of the Hakkari is known as the dagger with a back-worn position: when sheathed, the model attaches to the character's back rather than the belt, which is itself a rarity for daggers. The blade has a short silhouette with a serrated spine and a massive guard, and its styling follows the distinctive red-and-gold palette of the cult of Hakkari, the Soulflayer. This aesthetic directly references the legendary Twinblades of the Hakkari item set from the original Classic-era Zul'Gurub, where rogues turned in the Game iconWarblade of the Hakkari to the Zandalar Tribe for reputation.

As a combat weapon, the item is long obsolete: item level 38, a level 35 requirement, and stats geared toward agility and stamina were only of interest during the Cataclysm era. For transmogrification, on the other hand, the dagger is valuable in its own right — it is one of the most recognizable troll blades in the game, assembling into a complete look with the Gurubashi and Zandalari sets.

Source

The Twinblade of the Hakkari drops in the Zul'Gurub dungeon, a troll city in the Northern Stranglethorn Vale on the Eastern Kingdoms continent. Jin'do the Godbreaker, the dungeon's final boss, drops each of the dagger's two copies.

  • Source — Jin'do the Godbreaker, the last boss of heroic Zul'Gurub.
  • Difficulty — heroic dungeon only. There is no normal version of the 5-player Zul'Gurub: in patch 4.1 the dungeon was relaunched straight as a heroic.
  • The confirmed drop chance according to Wowhead is about 16.74% for the Twinblade of the Hakkari and about 17.47% for the 2nd copy of the Twinblade of the Hakkari.
  • The item is bind on pickup and cannot be transferred to another character — you have to farm it on the character whose collection you want to unlock the appearance for.
  • There is no lockout on repeat runs: the dungeon can be reset as many times as you like.
  • No token or currency is required — it is a direct drop from the boss.

An important point about availability on current servers. In the 6.0 update of the Warlords of Draenor expansion, the Zul'Gurub dungeon was removed from the modern version of the game, and Jin'do, along with this loot, became unavailable. The dungeon also does not appear in the Cataclysm Timewalking rotation. So in the current version of WoW in the Midnight expansion, this dagger's appearance is locked for anyone who did not obtain it before the dungeon was removed.

Where the dagger can still be obtained:

  • In Cataclysm Classic — the Zul'Gurub dungeon works normally, and Jin'do is available through the Dungeon Finder.
  • In Mists of Pandaria Classic — the same dungeon and the same boss remain in the rotation of level 85 heroic dungeons.
  • On current servers, the appearance is already unlocked for players who farmed the dagger before patch 6.0.

If you play on the Classic servers, the farm is straightforward: gather a group or go solo on a character well above the dungeon's level, run to Jin'do, and repeat the kill until both copies drop.

Alternatives

The Twinblade of the Hakkari has no color recolors with separate models — it is a unique appearance from heroic Zul'Gurub. Historically, there are almost no daggers with a similar silhouette and a back-worn position in the game, so the model long remained a one-of-a-kind find.

If you want this exact dagger, this is what you need to farm — the item has no alternative source for the very same model. For themed looks in the style of the cult of Hakkari, it is useful to also consider the original Twinblades of the Hakkari set and other red-and-gold troll gear.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It fits troll and Zandalari looks for the rogue, demon hunter, or druid: the blade's red-and-gold palette echoes the theme of the cult of Hakkari.
  • It looks great paired with an identical dagger in both hands on rogues — two matching "twin" daggers assemble the complete silhouette of the original twinblade from Vanilla.
  • It harmonizes with dark-red and leather jungle armor — for example, with the themed Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman sets.
  • It looks striking against golden-bronze plate armor — a debatable but bold combination for troll priest or tribal chieftain looks.
  • It is fitting in concepts tied to the loa and blood rituals: the appearance directly references the artistic style of the Gurubashi and the cult of the Soulflayer.

Tips

1

Farm on the Classic servers: in the current version of WoW in the Midnight expansion the dungeon is removed, and the dagger can no longer be obtained there.

2

Plan for several runs — a chance of about 17% per blade means one or two attempts rarely close out both slots.

3

For solo farming, take a character significantly above the dungeon's level: Cataclysm-era Zul'Gurub clears quickly on your own.

4

Remember that you need two separate drops: the first and second copies fall independently, and having one does not increase the chance of the other.

5

Jin'do is the dungeon's final boss, but Zul'Gurub is nonlinear: you can head straight to him, skipping part of the path.

6

The dagger's main value is the back-worn position; it is precisely this silhouette for which the weapon is included in looks, even without using the full pair.

7

The appearance unlocks in the transmogrification collection when the item is obtained by any character on the account — farming on an alt works too.

8

If you are also assembling a Hakkari set for a themed look, keep in mind: the one-handed dagger from the Cataclysm version and the old one-handed sword from the Vanilla set are different appearances, and their transmogrification is stored separately.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
