Unceremonious Bloodletter is a one-hand dagger from the Ara-Kara, City of Echoes dungeon. The item was added in The War Within expansion alongside the opening of the nerubian lands of Azj-Kahet and belongs to the dungeon gear of this region.
This is a caster dagger with Intellect as its primary stat: it is rolled on by mages, warlocks, priests, Elemental and Restoration shamans, Balance and Restoration druids, Mistweaver monks and Evokers. The dagger's appearance uses the shared dagger model of The War Within's nerubian dungeons — it appears on several items with this icon.
Visually the dagger is rendered in nerubian aesthetics: a short curved blade with a serrated edge and a hilt with chitinous overlays. Stylistically the model echoes the “harvest” rituals that Queen Ansurek's servants perform in Ara-Kara, gathering dangerous materials for the ascension of the nerubians. The dagger is valued for its concise dark silhouette without unnecessary special effects: it fits easily into sets where the weapon should complement rather than steal attention.
The Unceremonious Bloodletter drops from the final boss of the Ara-Kara, City of Echoes dungeon — Ki'katal the Harvester. It is loot-table drop: in a single run the chance to get this specific dagger is low, since the boss drops about a dozen different items.
Ara-Kara is a short three-boss dungeon on the southern side of Azj-Kahet. The bosses come in this order:
The dungeon was in The War Within's Season 1 Mythic+ rotation, and in Season 3 it returned to the list of keystone dungeons once more — alongside the new Eco-Dome Al'dani dungeon.
The entrance to Ara-Kara is located in the underground city of The Stonevault — a neighboring The War Within dungeon, beneath which the ruins of Ara-Kara are hidden. The Azj-Kahet zone itself opens up over the course of the main The War Within storyline campaign.
Approximate entrance coordinates on the Azj-Kahet map:
This is personal loot: the dagger will only enter the loot of those players in the group whose specialization uses Intellect as the primary stat. The transmog appearance is account-bound — it is enough for one character to obtain the dagger, and the model unlocks in the Appearances tab for all characters who can use daggers.
The Unceremonious Bloodletter uses the shared dagger model of The War Within's nerubian dungeons. The same final boss of Ara-Kara drops a stylistically related one-hand weapon with a similar chitinous silhouette:
| Item | Source | Wowhead |
|---|---|---|
| Unceremonious Bloodletter | Ki'katal the Harvester, Ara-Kara | |
| Pestilent Hunter's Glaivescalpel | Ki'katal the Harvester, Ara-Kara |
If the dagger does not drop after several runs, it is worth browsing the full list of daggers in the Wowhead database via the dagger filter for The War Within expansion — the nerubian dungeon models share a close silhouette and color scheme, and many of them are noticeably easier to collect.
Ara-Kara is short — three bosses and about ten minutes for a full clear, so farming the dagger for the appearance is fast and convenient.
Each weekly reset, turn in at least one “Dungeons” row in the Great Vault — this is a second chance at the item besides the direct drop from the boss.
The dagger only drops to players with an Intellect-based specialization: if you go in a group and specifically need the appearance, agree on priority in advance.
Removing Cultivated Poisons from the final boss triggers waves of damage across the group — on farm runs, warn the healer so they do not dispel the effect thoughtlessly.
In the final phase of the fight Ki'katal casts Singularity: stand in the Black Blood pools so you are not pulled to the center, or use an immunity ability.
On Heroic mode the boss is killed by a small group from the Dungeon Finder tool — this is the cheapest way to go for the dagger without a keystone.
Any dropped dagger just needs to be placed in your bag once — the appearance is automatically added to the wardrobe of the entire account, after which the item can be disenchanted.
