Underscout's Kukri — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Underscout's Kukri is an uncommon one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft with The War Within expansion. It is a light, curved blade with a broad belly and a simple wrapped grip — a weapon in the spirit of the gear worn by the underground scouts of Khaz Algar's delves.
The dagger belongs to the delve weapon model family: the same silhouette shows up on several types of one-handed weapons from The War Within dungeons. The model has a grounded, practical character, with no glowing effects or engraving — a tracker's working knife rather than a ceremonial weapon.
In terms of stats the item carries agility and stamina, so as a combat weapon it suits classes that rely on agility: the rogue, the druid in bear or cat form, the monk, the hunter, and the demon hunter. For transmogrification, faction and class do not matter — the appearance is unlocked in your appearance collection once the item has reached your bags.
Source
Underscout's Kukri drops from the elite enemy Tomb-Raider Drywhisker, the final boss of the Kriegval's Rest delve. The delve is located in the central part of the Isle of Dorn zone, east of Dornogal.
Key farming details:
- The dagger is loot from the delve's final boss, so each run gives you a single chance at the drop.
- The drop rate is low: the item sits in the boss's shared loot pool alongside other gear. Be ready for several repeat runs.
- The delve can be completed solo or in a group of up to five players — soloing is more convenient for transmog farming, since loot is not shared with other players.
- Any delve difficulty tier from 1 and up works. For farming the appearance, take the lowest available tier — that way the run is the quickest.
- The item becomes soulbound on equip, meaning it can be bought or sold on the auction house before being worn. If you would rather not farm it, check your realm's auction house.
Access to the delve is opened through the quest Delver's Call: Kriegval's Rest, which is available from level 70. No separate long quest chain is required to enter — you just need to reach the Isle of Dorn as part of The War Within campaign.
Alternatives
The dagger has no flashy color recolors: it is a base delve weapon model. However, the same Kriegval's Rest delve drops other one-handed weapons in a unified visual style from the same boss — they pair well with the kukri in a single set.
| Item | Type | Source |
|---|---|---|
| One-handed axe | Kriegval's Rest | |
| One-handed mace | Kriegval's Rest |
If you specifically want a dagger with the same utilitarian silhouette, take a look at other The War Within delve weapons — underground gear models are reused between Khaz Algar's dungeons, so blades close in style also drop in neighboring delves.
Who It Suits Visually
- It harmonizes with the leather scout set from the same delve: the
Underscout's Jerkin,
Underscout's Trousers, and
Underscout's Cord come together into a cohesive underground tracker look. - It complements the image of a practical rogue scout: the blade's muted tones do not clash with dark leather armor and do not draw attention away.
- It contrasts with heavy plate sets — a simple knife next to massive armor looks debatable, but it emphasizes the image of a light fighter from the shadows.
- It suits looks in an earthy, stony palette: the blade's gray-brown range echoes the theme of Khaz Algar's caves, mines, and dungeons.
- It is a good paired dagger for a rogue: two identical models in both hands give a neat, symmetrical silhouette without visual noise.
Tips
Take the lowest delve difficulty tier for farming — at low tiers Kriegval's Rest is cleared in a few minutes, and the appearance drop chance does not depend on difficulty.
Farm solo: in a solo delve all the boss loot goes to you, with no distribution among group members.
Before each run, check the auction house — the dagger is an item that only becomes soulbound on equip, so it regularly comes up for sale.
Tomb-Raider Drywhisker knocks players back and speeds up during the fight — for fast farming, classes with good mobility and steady damage are handy.
If you are assembling the full underground scout look, run the delve with the same boss several times: alongside the kukri, the leather pieces of the scout set and other weapons in a unified style drop here too.
The unlocked appearance is available to your whole account: once you get the dagger on one character, you can apply the transmogrification on any suitable class.
Do not rush to equip the first copy that drops on a rogue character without need — to unlock the appearance the item just needs to be in your possession, and an unbound dagger can be resold if you wish.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
