Overview

Void-Touched Shank

Game iconVoid-Touched Shank is an epic one-handed dagger added in The War Within alongside the revamped Horrific Visions. It is a short, curved blade with a dark, seemingly corroded surface: the blade is coated in a purple-black crust of corruption, while thin Void tentacles wrap around the hilt. The model is built on the Old Gods weapon set — the same grim aesthetic as the gear from the Orgrimmar and Stormwind visions.

The dagger is intended for rogues: when looted, the item only goes to characters with that class specialization. Statistically it is an item level 92 piece with agility, stamina, critical strike, and versatility, but for a transmog collector its combat value matters less than its look — a rich Void corruption that is hard to assemble from any other weapon.

An important trait of the whole family: the item carries the "Mark of the Void" property and is treated as unique-equipped. This means you can wear only one Void-touched weapon at a time. The restriction does not affect the wardrobe appearance — the look unlocks into your collection permanently as soon as the item lands in your bags.

Source

The shank is sold by weapon vendors in the camp of the revamped Horrific Visions. The camp is located in the capital — the city of Dornogal on the Isle of Dorn, just south of the Coreway. The dagger cannot be looted from a boss directly: first you need to build up vision progress and unlock the right vendor with an achievement.

Three masters are responsible for selling the weapons, and each is unlocked by their own achievement:

  • TickTak — a veteran-level weapon vendor. His stall is unlocked by the achievement Incremental Progress: you need to complete at least 2 objectives and kill the boss in a single run of any revamped Horrific Vision.
  • Rhythferr — a champion-level weapon vendor. Unlocked by the achievement Masked Soliloquy: clear all the vision's objectives with at least one faceless mask active.
  • Chreni — a hero-level weapon vendor. Unlocked by the achievement Symphony of Masks: clear all the vision's objectives with all five faceless masks active at once.

The dagger's appearance is tied to the same model across all three equipment tiers, so for the wardrobe collection it is enough to buy the version from any available vendor. If your only goal is the transmog, the easiest is to unlock TickTak: "Incremental Progress" comes from a normal vision run without masks. If you are farming high-level gear anyway, it makes sense to grab the shank from whichever vendor offers the item level you need for your stats.

The currency for the purchase — Horrific Vision tokens — comes from completing the Orgrimmar and Stormwind visions themselves. Masks make the run harder and at the same time improve reward quality, so farming currency and working toward the vendor-unlock achievements go hand in hand.

Visual fit

  • Matches the rogue sets from the revamped Horrific Visions — weapon and armor are built in the same Void-corruption palette and come together as a cohesive look.
  • Harmonizes with purple-black leather armor sets: the tentacles on the hilt echo the Void and Old Gods theme.
  • Looks great paired with another weapon from the same set — for example, in the off-hand you can take the Game iconVoid-Touched Blade for a symmetrical dual-dagger rogue look.
  • Contrasts with light cloth or priestly armor — a debatable but expressive trick if you want to highlight a dark weapon against a bright backdrop.
  • Fits looks themed around corruption, Void cultists, and the Old Gods — from Battle for Azeroth to the current visions.

Tips

1

For transmog you do not need a high item level piece: the look is identical on all three versions, so grab the dagger from the very first vendor you unlock.

2

The fastest path to the shank is the achievement "Incremental Progress" and vendor TickTak: a single vision run without masks is enough.

3

Stock up on Horrific Vision currency in advance: a single vision run gives only part of the needed sum, and the same run counts toward the vendor-unlock achievements.

4

The shank only drops to a rogue on loot selection, so buy it on a rogue character — on other classes the vendor will not have the item.

5

The "unique-equipped" property restricts only the equipped weapon: the look enters the wardrobe without restrictions and can be applied via transmog to any suitable dagger.

6

Running visions with masks makes the run harder but raises the reward level — if you need both stats and the look, work toward the "Masked Soliloquy" and "Symphony of Masks" achievements right away.

7

Drop by the other vendors in the same camp: they sell the inv_knive_1h_nzothraid_d_01Void-Touched Ritual Knife and the inv_sword_1h_nzothraid_d_01Void-Touched Sword — in a single trip you can collect several looks from this set.
