Voidglass Spire — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Voidglass Spire is a two-handed staff of the highest quality, added to World of Warcraft with The War Within expansion. It is an intellect weapon for casters: a long black shaft topped with a crystal of dark voidglass, its facets shimmering with cold purple-black reflections. The whole model is steeped in the aesthetic of the Void — no warm tones, no metal, only smooth glass and clots of cosmic energy at the head.
The appearance belongs to the "voidglass shards" family — a set of weapons from the expansion's final raid, where the story revolves around an awakening Void entity. The staff also has a combat effect: the wielder's spells have a chance to spawn voidglass shards that deal cosmic damage. Paired with the matching accessory, this effect is amplified, so the weapon was designed as part of a single set for mages, warlocks, priests, shamans, druids, monks, and evokers.
In combat terms the staff is already fading into the background — the level cap in Midnight is 90, and the stats of a previous expansion's weapon no longer matter. The appearance's value today is primarily cosmetic: it is one of the most striking "Void" staves for transmogrification.
Source
The appearance is obtained in the Manaforge Omega raid — the final raid of The War Within, dedicated to the struggle against the awakening power of the Void.
- The staff drops from Soulbinder Naazindhri — one of the raid's encounters, the fourth of ten bosses.
- The drop is random, from the boss's general loot table. According to public data, the chance for the staff specifically is around 15–16% per kill.
- All difficulties are available: Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic. The appearance is the same across all versions, so whatever difficulty you can manage is enough.
- There is no attempt limit, but loot from raid bosses is usually tied to the weekly reset: on a single character you can realistically get loot once a week per difficulty.
- This is group content. A recent raid from the previous expansion is more comfortable to clear in a group, though at level 90 some difficulties can already be handled by a small party.
Since the raid belongs to a past expansion, it becomes more accessible over time: the loot's stats grow outdated, while the appearances stay in demand precisely for transmogrification.
Who it suits visually
- It harmonizes with dark "Void" sets in a black-and-purple palette — the voidglass head echoes the motif of cosmic energy on the armor.
- It looks great with cloth sets of shadow and cosmic themes that feature a Void glow or starry patterns.
- It fits Void-styled priests and warlocks, as well as "dark" druids and shamans — the staff can be used by every caster class.
- It works in contrast with light and golden sets: the black glass shaft becomes a sharp accent, debatable but memorable.
- It comes together with other voidglass items from the same raid, if you want to keep your weapon and accessories on a single theme.
Tips
The appearance is the same across all difficulties, so there is no point going for Heroic or Mythic just for it — Raid Finder or Normal is enough.
Soulbinder Naazindhri is the fourth encounter, so you will have to clear the three preceding bosses to reach her.
The drop is random, around 15–16%, so plan for several weeks of runs and check all the loot from the boss, not just the weapon.
Loot from raid bosses is usually limited by the weekly reset, so the farm stretches out over weeks rather than over endless back-to-back re-entries.
Before farming, make sure your class can wield staves: otherwise you will not be able to apply the appearance through transmogrification.
If you are collecting the voidglass set alongside, clear the entire raid — the dagger and sword from the same family drop from other bosses.
Once obtained, the appearance is saved to your collection account-wide, so there is no need to farm it again for other characters.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
