Wastelander's Gilded Stiletto is an uncommon one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft in patch 11.2.0 of the The War Within expansion. It is a narrow, faceted blade with a gilded guard and a dark hilt, styled after the ethereal aesthetic of K'aresh: the thin blade looks coated in a desert patina, and the metal gleams with a muted gold.
The dagger belongs to the extensive Wastelander weapon set — a series of recolors of a single model that covers nearly every weapon type, from swords to staves. Every item in the set is item level 400 and requires character level 80. Since this is an uncommon-quality weapon, the stiletto's value is not combat-oriented but purely cosmetic: it is collected for its appearance in transmogrification.
For Rogues, Demon Hunters, and other dagger-wielding classes, this model is a convenient neutral option: its golden-sandy palette pairs with most armor sets and does not draw attention to itself.
The Wastelander's Gilded Stiletto drops from weekly Veteran-tier reward caches in Khaz Algar. Confirmed sources for the item:
Both caches are part of the weekly reward system of The War Within Season 3. The first caches opened in a given week are guaranteed to contain a Veteran-tier gear item — and that is exactly the pool the Wastelander set weapons fall into. The specific weapon type from a cache depends on your class and specialization: daggers go to classes that use them.
Farming notes:
The stiletto's model is used across the entire Wastelander weapon set. If you want a dagger with exactly this silhouette but a different role, take a look at the related item:
| Item | Type | Source |
|---|---|---|
| One-handed dagger | Veteran-tier caches, 11.2 | |
| One-handed dagger | Veteran-tier caches, 11.2 |
Both daggers are the same recolor of a single 3D model; they are visually identical in transmogrification. The only difference is in combat stats: the stiletto is intended for specializations that rely on Agility, the kris for specializations that rely on Intellect. For the appearance it makes no difference — take whichever item drops first.
There is no separate cosmetic ensemble for this model: the appearance is unlocked directly upon obtaining any item from the set.
The appearance unlocks upon obtaining any item from the Wastelander set, so it is easier not to hunt specifically for the stiletto, but to collect any dagger weapon from the caches.
Open all weekly Veteran-tier caches at the start of the week — the first chests are guaranteed to contain gear of the right tier.
To access the Renowned Veteran's caches, level up renown with the K'aresh faction in advance through special tasks.
The dagger fits both hands: in transmogrification it can be placed in both the main hand and the off hand for a paired look.
If the stiletto is already added to your appearance collection, you can safely sell extra copies to a vendor — a duplicate item does not improve the appearance.
Running delves for caches is doubly useful: in addition to the Wastelander weapons, other cosmetic season rewards drop there.
The appearance is saved account-wide: having unlocked the dagger on one character, you can apply it on all the others.
