Weaver's Fang — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Weaver's Fang is an epic one-handed dagger that returned to the game with patch 10.1.5 of the Dragonflight expansion. This weapon once dropped in the original Naxxramas from the classic version of World of Warcraft, and was later removed along with the old dungeon. Now its appearance is available to collectors once again — but no longer as a boss drop, instead as a piece of blacksmithing.
The blade is built on the model of a curved bone dagger with a dark hilt — the recognizable silhouette of a Scourge weapon, drawn from the aesthetic of Stratholme and the Plaguelands. Its item type is a one-handed dagger, so it fits the look of any class capable of wielding daggers: rogues, druids, mages, warlocks, priests, shamans and demon hunters. It looks especially natural in rogue sets — the game even flags Weaver's Fang as a trophy that goes to that specialization under automatic loot distribution.
The item's value is purely cosmetic: its in-game stats are low, and there is no point in wearing it for the numbers. It is collected for the look, and to fill in a line in your appearance collection with a rare blade from long-unavailable content.
Source
Weaver's Fang cannot be bought from a vendor or looted off a boss directly. It is a blacksmithing item, and the entire path to it is tied to returning to old Naxxramas.
Step 1. Unlock access to old Naxxramas. First you need to earn the achievement Wards of the Dread Citadel. To do this you must restore the Silver Vanguard insignia in the original Scholomance, kill Darkmaster Gandling, and then clear Stratholme within the allotted time, collecting Holy Water of Stratholme along the way. Once the chain is complete, a portal to Naxxramas opens in the Plaguewood, with a refreshed set of caches and secrets.
Step 2. Wake the vendor inside the dungeon. A goblin merchant hides beneath the ceiling of the Construct Quarter in Naxxramas. You reach him by grappling between anchor points using a makeshift hook. Once woken, the merchant hands out a small quest, and after you turn it in he relocates to the central ring and opens his shop.
Step 3. Stockpile currency. The merchant accepts shard stones of the Scourge that drop throughout the dungeon and exchanges them for trade tokens. Those tokens buy the key item — the
Slime-Covered Scroll.
Step 4. Get the schematic. When used, the scroll turns into one random ancient Naxxramas recipe — there are more than four dozen such recipes across several professions. The result we need is the
Ancient Plans: Weaver's Fang. The chance of rolling that exact one is low, but the recipes don't bind to the character: extras can be sold, and a missing one bought at auction or traded from other players. Often this is the fastest way to get hold of a specific schematic.
Step 5. Craft the dagger. The plans are learned by a character with classic Blacksmithing at level 300. The main reagent for the craft is the
Wartorn Scrap, which drops from ordinary enemies in Naxxramas and is also freely sold at auction. Anyone who isn't interested in farming the materials themselves can order the craft from any blacksmith: the finished blade is not bound to its maker and is freely tradable.
Visual fit
- Pairs with sets in the aesthetic of the Scourge and undead — gear from Stratholme, the Plaguelands and old Naxxramas, kept in bone and earthy tones.
- Complements dark leather rogue sets: the curved shape of the blade and its muted palette don't pull attention away from the armor.
- Looks good alongside a second dagger of a similar silhouette — for example, a Darrowshire cutlass, for a single coordinated style.
- Contrasts with bright plate armor of the paladin type — a debatable but expressive choice if you want to make the weapon stand out against the armor.
- Suits necromancer, fallen hunter or cultist concepts thanks to its nod to Scourge weaponry.
Tips
The Wards of the Dread Citadel achievement unlocks once per character, but after that access to Naxxramas is permanent — you can farm scrolls and reagents as much as you like.
You don't have to roll the
Ancient Plans: Weaver's Fang yourself: scroll recipes don't bind to the character, so the schematic you need is often cheaper to buy at auction than to grind through dozens of scrolls.
Don't throw away spare schematics from other professions — they sell too, and offloading duplicates partly pays back the currency farm.
The Wartorn Scrap reagent drops from ordinary enemies all over Naxxramas — so the crafting material piles up right alongside your farm of Scourge shard stones.
If you don't have your own blacksmith with classic Blacksmithing at level 300, the finished dagger can be ordered from another player: the item is freely tradable and not bound to its maker.
It's more convenient to buy trade tokens in one batch per run: Scourge shard stones are collected as you clear the dungeon, and extra currency runs only stretch out the gathering.
After crafting, you only need to equip the dagger once for the appearance to be saved in your collection forever — the item itself can then be sold or disenchanted.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
