Dungeons and Experience

The October 8 update adds a new dungeon in Dalaran for testing. Experience earned in dungeons has also been adjusted.

  • Experience from killing dungeon creatures has increased by about 20%. This bonus applies specifically to experience from enemies.
  • The penalty for killing low-level enemies in a group is now calculated separately for each character. Previously, the calculation used the highest-level group member, which could reduce the experience earned by everyone else.
  • The restriction against high-level boosting remains in place. If one group member is significantly higher level than the enemy being killed, the entire group receives no experience.

These changes work together: groups earn more experience from creatures, and having a slightly higher-level ally no longer reduces everyone's reward through the old, incorrect formula.

Items and Rewards

  • Game iconWolfhead Helm: its Energy effect now grants 5 additional points when using Game iconMana-to-Energy Conversion. The Rage portion of the effect is unchanged.
  • Some dungeon quest rewards have been changed from Rare to Uncommon. Their stats have been adjusted to match the new quality.
  • Game iconTruthseeker Bow: now requires level 40 to use, matching two other rewards from the same chain.
  • Rewards from the new Gelkis and Magram clan quest chains in Desolace have received stat changes. Most items now have the expected reward power; some have a different stat mix.
  • A level 35 requirement to equip these rewards is still planned. It will be added in a separate hotfix. Do not confuse this future change with the already increased minimum level for the quests themselves.
  • Game iconLesser Healing Potion: damage associated with it no longer breaks crowd-control effects.
  • New shoulders have been reduced to the correct visual size.
  • The Booty Bay guards' Scatter Shot no longer knocks back its target.

Professions and Vendor Prices for Crafted Items

Armor kits that increase attack power no longer incorrectly double their bonus to ranged attack power. Weapon-enchant procs with a restoration effect for Druids in shapeshift form have also been fixed.

Vendor sale prices have been revised for a number of items made with Enchanting. Confirmed changes include:

Item
Vendor sale price
Game iconLesser Wizard Oil1 silver
Game iconLesser Magic Wand1 silver, 10 copper
Game iconGreater Magic Wand2 silver
Game iconLesser Mystic Wand4 silver, 50 copper

Resurrection and Durability

Durability loss when resurrected by a Spirit Healer has been reduced from 50% to 25%. The temporary resurrection sickness remains.

This change applies to resurrection by a Spirit Healer, not every way of returning to life after death.

Heritage Rewards

  • All beta participants have been credited with the challenge that unlocks the Heritage Rewards system.
  • Each player received 16 points to test the system.
  • The minimum cost to reset point allocations has been reduced to 1 silver.
  • The reset cost decreases by one tier every hour.

The revised reset conditions are in effect during beta testing.

Quests and World

  • The Barrens: the item used to summon the target for the Isha Awak quest is no longer consumed on use.
  • Durotar: the A Pretty Omelet quest now has more eggs available, and they respawn faster.
  • Durotar: sleeping peons are more common for Lazy Peons. The quest area on the map now also includes the northern workers.
  • Hillsbrad Foothills: in Elixir of Pain, the experience previously awarded for Stanley has been moved to the quest reward itself.
  • Orgrimmar: Niru Fireblade now has a map marker and a mouseover tooltip for Hidden Enemies.
  • Stonetalon Mountains: after another player completes Jin'Zil's Forest Magic, Jin'Zil will continue to accept quests.
  • Warrior quest: the excessive delay before the event at the mausoleum can be triggered again in Ula'elek has been reduced.
  • Desolace: the minimum level for the new Gelkis and Magram clan chains has been raised from 30 to 35.
  • Duskwood: Stitches once again becomes hostile when entering Darkshire.
  • Loch Modan: ambushes near Miran’s camp occur less often while supplying the digsite.
  • Redridge Mountains: weapon racks, stolen weapons, and supplies for one quest respawn faster.
  • Shaman quests: several required enemies respawn faster, totems drop more often, and the list of creatures that can drop them has been expanded. Faster respawns apply to large camps, but not every small settlement.
  • Teldrassil: a class-quest enemy respawns faster, and its minions now appear correctly after a fight resets. The escort character moves more slowly during an escort quest.
  • Tirisfal Glades: quest and creature levels have been raised in two new areas so their difficulty matches earlier leveling stages.
  • Map markers, access to follow-up steps, and re-issuance of required items have been fixed in several quest chains.
  • Capital-city barbers have been replaced with members of the local races.

Combat, Loot, and Player-versus-Player

  • Critical strikes in PvP no longer have reduced effectiveness.
  • Game iconWill of the Forsaken: fixed cases where the ability could not be used while asleep or mind-controlled.
  • Weapon swapping: you can once again swap multiple items within one global cooldown. For example, a macro can replace a two-handed weapon with a one-handed weapon and shield.
  • Looting: the classic behavior that lets you interact with a creature's corpse even when it has no loot has been restored.
  • Fixed cases where enemies unintentionally entered combat from very far away.
  • Fixed visual-effect flickering on large creatures.
  • Fixed the incorrect position of one capture point.

Ability Tracking and Interface

  • Built-in cooldown tracking now supports all classes, racial abilities, and trinkets. Consumable item support will be added later.
  • Voice chat through Discord can now be selected in sound settings. The option selected by the group leader is used for the entire group.
  • When creating a group-finder listing, you can specify a voice-chat mode. Members will be prompted to join the selected channel.
  • The inspect window for other characters has been updated.
  • View Talents has been added to the context menu for the inspected target.
  • Combo-point display on the target frame and personal resource bar has been updated.
  • Quest types are now labeled in the quest log, quest window, and tracker.
  • The required quest level is now shown in the tracker.
  • Stats increased by beneficial effects are once again highlighted correctly in the character window.
  • Fixed a display bug that showed account-wide macros among a character's individual macros.
  • Selecting a completed Heritage Rewards challenge now opens that system's window.
  • Character level and class are now shown on the left side of the character window.

Gamepad Controls

  • Hold-action button prompts have been updated.
  • Fixed input issues after looting.
  • When opening the map, focus first moves to the quest log. You can keep moving until you start controlling the map cursor.
  • Raid-frame navigation has been updated.
  • The gamepad action bar now supports Edit Mode.
  • Edit Mode layouts are saved separately for different interface types.
  • Action-bar settings, including compact mode, have moved from general settings to Edit Mode. You will need to set them again: previous values are not transferred automatically.

Known Issues

  • After selecting a talent that increases a pet's critical strike chance, its stat may not change in the character window. This is a display issue, not a missing bonus.
  • Some icons in the Professions window are displayed incorrectly.
  • Some updated textures for forms, creatures, pets, and mounts will arrive in the next build.
