Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.

Xal'atath, Blade of the Black Empire is a one-handed artifact dagger for the Shadow specialization Priest, and one of the most recognizable blades in World of Warcraft. This weapon comes from the Legion expansion as the spec's legendary artifact, and this version of the item belongs to the Legion Remix event.
The blade is styled after the Old Gods: a curved edge of dark obsidian shot through with violet veins, with a living crystal of the Void set into its pommel. Xal'atath herself is a sentient being with a voice of her own, and the flavor text warns outright: "Xal'atath has a mind of her own. Do not heed her maddening whispers. Do not believe her lies." Because of its class restriction, the appearance is available only to priests — any priest specialization can wear it as a transmog.
The dagger is an artifact weapon, which means it has several color variants unlocked through the various trials of the Legion expansion. This makes it one of the most versatile appearances for a Shadow Priest.
You obtain the base appearance of the dagger during the artifact quest chain for the Shadow specialization Priest. In brief, the path looks like this:
During the Legion Remix event, access to the Priest artifacts is streamlined: it is enough to play as a Legion timerunner, choose the Shadow specialization, and go through the same story chain. Additional color variants are unlocked by completing dungeons, raids, class hall challenges, and Legion achievements.
The appearance is available only to the priest, so you need to farm it on a priest character — the artifact does not transfer to other classes.
If you want to collect every tint, the easiest time to do it is during the Legion Remix event: it speeds up leveling and the unlocking of class hall challenges.
The base appearance is unlocked just from the introductory chain — a quick way to get at least one variant of the dagger.
Additional color variants require separate conditions: check the Priest class hall appearances section to track your progress on each tint.
Since this is an artifact, the appearance unlocks account-wide — you do not need to run the chain again on other priests for the same variant.
Right after obtaining it, check your appearance collection: artifact models are stored separately and applied through the weapon transmogrification interface.
