Overview

Apostle of Argus

Game iconApostle of Argus is an epic two-handed staff from The Burning Crusade expansion. It is a weapon for intellect-based classes: priests, mages, warlocks, druids, and shamans. The staff's model uses a light golden palette with a twisted head and a calm glow, which makes it a versatile foundation for "holy" and magical looks.

In terms of stats, the staff is long outdated and useless for combat in Midnight, so the only reason to obtain it today is its appearance. The silhouette of the model is restrained and recognizable, with no bulky effects, so it fits easily into sets where the focus is on the armor rather than the weapon.

Source

The staff drops in the Hyjal Summit raid, located in the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. The specific source is the raid's final boss, Archimonde.

  • The drop chance is around 18% per kill, so several runs may yield no result.
  • There is no attempt limit: the raid resets once a week, and you can kill Archimonde weekly until the staff drops.
  • In the modern version of the game, no attunement is required — the questline with vials is a thing of the past and is no longer needed.
  • At level 90 the raid is cleared solo with ease, including Archimonde: his deadly fire no longer poses a threat to a max-level character.

The easiest way to reach the entrance is through the portals in the capitals or the portal in Dalaran of Northrend that leads to the Caverns of Time. On arrival you will be met by the dragon Anachronos, and the portal to Hyjal Summit you need is on your right as you descend deeper into the caverns.

Who it suits visually

  • Looks great in light "holy" priest and paladin looks thanks to the golden glow of the head.
  • Pairs with white and cream cloth armor, where the staff serves as a soft accent rather than the centerpiece.
  • Suits shaman and druid sets in a natural or solar palette thanks to the model's warm tone.
  • Contrasts with dark warlock armor — a debatable but memorable choice for "light versus darkness" looks.

Tips

1

The fastest farming method is to enter the raid once a week on a level 90 character and run it fully for a handful of appearances.

2

For speed, classes with high mobility and steady self-healing are convenient: a monk, paladin, or demon hunter clears the mob waves faster than others.

3

Do not skip the intermediate bosses and mob waves: along the way you gain reputation with the Keepers of Time, and other transmog from the expansion drops from the bosses.

4

Remember the weekly reset: until you get the staff, it makes sense to run several characters at once to make more attempts in a single week.

5

If you need the appearance urgently, farm similar models from the Sunwell Plateau in parallel — their overall silhouette is alike.
