Ascension Arrestor's Dagger — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Ascension Arrestor's Dagger is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft alongside the "Twilight Ascension" pre-event of the Midnight expansion. It is a compact blade with a short, broad cutting edge and a faceted hilt, finished in a cold grey-steel palette with muted earthy accents on the guard and pommel.
The dagger's model is a recolor of a weapon from The War Within dungeons: the same silhouette and blade geometry, but painted in the pre-event's palette. Because of this, the blade fits easily into sets built around the previous expansion's dungeon gear, while still carrying its own twilight-themed character.
The dagger belongs to a catch-up gear set sold by a vendor for the pre-event currency. Its item level is 53, and the required character level is 80. Statwise it is an agility weapon: it is worn by rogues, feral druids and cat forms, as well as demon hunters and brewmaster monks. It is warband-bound until equipped, so before being equipped the blade moves freely between characters on the account.
Source
The Ascension Arrestor's Dagger is sold by a vendor for the pre-event currency and does not drop from a specific boss. The source is the Midnight expansion pre-event in the Twilight Highlands.
- The vendor is Armorer Kalinovan, a seller of catch-up gear.
- The vendor's location is the pre-event camp in the southern part of the Twilight Highlands, coordinates
/way 49.6 81.2. - The currency is Twilight's Blade Insignia. This is a warband currency: your accumulated stock is available to any character on the account.
- The dagger costs 40 insignia, the same as the other catch-up gear items from this vendor.
Twilight's Blade Insignia are earned by opposing the cult in the Twilight Highlands:
- The weekly quest Disrupt the Call — defeat three rare pre-event enemies. The reward is 40 insignia.
- The weekly quest Twilight's Dawn — an overall tally of local quests and rare enemies. The reward is 40 insignia.
- Local quests in the zone — 10 insignia each for the first completion.
- Killing rare pre-event enemies — 1 insignia each.
The pre-event runs from January 27, 2026 and ends on March 2, 2026 with the launch of the Midnight expansion. After the pre-event ends, Armorer Kalinovan leaves the camp, any remaining insignia are automatically converted into Resonator Crystals, and after release the catch-up gear is taken over by Defelin in Silvermoon. Until that date, the dagger's appearance is obtainable only in the Twilight Highlands.
The pre-event camp is a shared hub for both factions. Besides Armorer Kalinovan, a cosmetics vendor works nearby, Materialist Ophinell: they sell a toy, pets, a mount, housing decor and transmog sets that do not overlap with Kalinovan's gear.
Alternatives
The Ascension Arrestor's Dagger is part of a single line of catch-up weapons sold by Armorer Kalinovan for Twilight's Blade Insignia. All variants use a shared twilight-steel palette and recolors of models from The War Within dungeons.
| Item | Type | Source |
|---|---|---|
| One-handed dagger | Armorer Kalinovan, 40 insignia. | |
| One-handed blade | Armorer Kalinovan, 40 insignia. | |
| Off-hand item | Armorer Kalinovan, 40 insignia. | |
| Shield | Armorer Kalinovan, 40 insignia. |
The
Ascension Agitator's Dagger deserves a separate mention — a rare-quality dagger with the same styling. This variant is not sold by Kalinovan and is instead found through the pre-event loot system as a companion drop from the same rare enemies that grant insignia.
If the pre-event has already ended, the closest appearance by silhouette is assembled on the original The War Within dungeon gear, but the twilight-steel coloring specifically remains unique to this item.
Who It Suits Visually
- It looks great in sets built around The War Within dungeon gear — the models are identical, so the dagger pairs with them without any visual dissonance.
- The cold grey-steel palette harmonizes with armor in blue, purple and dark-grey tones — for example, with cosmetic sets from the same pre-event by Materialist Ophinell.
- The earthy accents on the guard provide a point of contact with plate and mail sets in brown-bronze tones.
- The compact model is fitting for a rogue's paired weapons: two identical blades read as a cohesive silhouette without overloading.
- The neutral coloring makes the dagger a universal substitute when a bright weapon clashes with the rest of the set.
Tips
Twilight's Blade Insignia are a warband currency, so it is more efficient to accumulate them on one character and spend them on any character who needs the appearance.
Take both weekly quests — Disrupt the Call and Twilight's Dawn: together they give 80 insignia per week, which is enough for two gear items.
It pays to complete the local quests at least once: 10 insignia each adds up quickly and stacks with rewards for rare enemies.
Buying the dagger is covered by two full weeks of event activities — plan your grind so you finish before the pre-event ends on March 2, 2026.
If you are collecting the entire catch-up weapon set, it is more efficient to first close out the weekly quests and only then hunt rare enemies to top off your currency.
It is enough to obtain the dagger once and equip it for the appearance to be saved forever in your account's transmog collection.
After the pre-event ends, the catch-up gear will continue to be sold by Defelin in Silvermoon, but the toy, mount, pets and decor from Materialist Ophinell will disappear — plan your priorities in advance.
Any insignia left over after the event will automatically turn into Resonator Crystals, so it is inconvenient to stockpile them "for later": it is better to spend the currency before the pre-event ends.
