Overview

Barman Skewer

Game iconBarman Skewer is a rare-quality one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft with the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It isn't a blade in the usual sense: the model is a broken bottle that the character holds by the neck. The jagged edges of the glass turn an ordinary tavern container into an improvised weapon — exactly the way troublemakers get dealt with in bar brawls.

The dagger goes in the main-hand or off-hand slot and suits every class that uses daggers: rogues, druids, warlocks, priests, mages and shamans. The item level is 19, and you need character level 50 to equip it. Its combat stats have long been irrelevant, so the item's value today is purely cosmetic: people collect the Barman Skewer for its transmog appearance.

It's one of the most expressive "bottle" looks in the game. If you're building the image of a pirate, a smuggler or a regular at portside taverns, a broken bottle in hand fits better than any forged blade.

Source

The Barman Skewer drops from a rare enemy named Barman Bill — a humanoid rogue who roams Tiragarde Sound, the Alliance starting zone in the Battle for Azeroth expansion.

  • Barman Bill is found in the south of Tiragarde Sound, near the pirate settlement of Freehold, by the entrance to the dungeon of the same name. His spawn point is around the coordinates /way 76.2 83.0.
  • This is the open world, not a dungeon: you don't need to enter Freehold to kill Barman Bill.
  • The drop chance for the Barman Skewer is around 3.86%, so the dagger is rarely obtained on the first try.
  • Besides the dagger, Barman Bill can drop a forbidden sea shanty and a small azerite shard.
  • A world quest is tied to this rare enemy, Barman Bill, at level 50: it grants reputation with the Proudmoore Admiralty and the Honorbound factions.
  • Killing Barman Bill counts toward the Adventurer of Tiragarde Sound achievement — it requires defeating all the rare creatures in the zone and is account-wide.

Barman Bill is a rare enemy with a relatively short respawn timer, and any max-level character can kill him solo. He has no special mechanics.

Who it suits visually

  • Pirate and smuggler looks — the dagger naturally completes sets themed around Freehold and the Kul Tiras pirate fleet.
  • Roguish sets in the spirit of a "tavern cutthroat": the broken bottle reads as a weapon from a portside back alley rather than from a forge.
  • Outfits with a green and turquoise palette — the bottle glass gives a cold greenish tint that echoes fabrics and leather in similar tones.
  • Joke and carnival looks: the Barman Skewer works well paired with festive outfits and innkeeper sets.
  • As a paired weapon — two bottle-daggers in both hands strengthen the image of a tavern brawler.

Tips

1

Before heading out to farm, check whether you've already completed the world quest "Barman Bill": as long as the enemy is alive, you can attack him regardless of the quest.

2

Use any addon or in-game rare-tracking tool in Tiragarde Sound — it will tell you when Barman Bill spawns.

3

The nearest flight point is by the Freehold entrance in the south of the zone; from there it's only a few seconds of flight to Barman Bill's spawn point.

4

The appearance unlocks in your appearances collection as soon as the dagger lands in your bag — you don't have to wear or equip it for that.

5

If the 3.86% chance isn't on your side, visit Barman Bill on every respawn: killing him is unlimited and available daily.

6

While farming the dagger you also progress toward the "Adventurer of Tiragarde Sound" achievement — mark the zone's other rare creatures on your map and gather them into a single route.

7

Horde characters can also reach Tiragarde Sound and kill Barman Bill — the zone is open to both factions after the relevant campaign.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
