Belo'ren's Swift Talon — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Belo'ren's Swift Talon is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft with the Midnight expansion. It is a Season 1 raid weapon: it carries agility stats and is intended for Rogues, Survival Hunters, and Enhancement Shamans — the classes that use daggers in melee.
The model is built around the dark phoenix aesthetic of the March on Quel'Danas raid. The narrow dark blade is veined with crimson heat, the guard is shaped like a curved predatory talon, and the hilt is wrapped in dark cord. The blade is the twin model of
Belo'melorn, the Shattered Talon: both daggers drop from the same boss and share a common weapon visual, but differ in stats — Belo'ren's Swift Talon rolls agility, while Belo'melorn is built for intellect casters.
The blade's name points directly at the boss — the phoenix Belo'ren. In lore, Belo'ren is one of the last hatchlings of the phoenix god Al'ar, raised as a guardian of the Sunwell on the Isle of Quel'Danas. The dagger's flavor text underscores its essence: "A flash of flame, the coming of darkness. Few things rival their speed."
By the spring of 2026, Belo'ren's Swift Talon remains one of the sought-after transmog models among Rogues: its dark silhouette with a fiery glow fits neatly into the current Midnight season's leather sets and reads clearly even in dense combat animation.
Source
The dagger drops from Belo'ren — the first of the two bosses in the March on Quel'Danas raid. This is the final raid of Midnight Season 1, dedicated to defending the Sunwell against the encroaching Darkness. Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties opened on March 31, 2026, while Raid Finder and Story mode became available a week later, on April 7.
The raid entrance is located on the Isle of Quel'Danas — the northern tip of Quel'Thalas, next to the Sunwell:
The easiest way there is from Silvermoon: simply fly due north, cross the strait, and follow the coastline to the towers marking the raid instance entrance. Blood Elves have the shortest path; members of other races can conveniently use the seasonal portal to the Isle of Quel'Danas.
Requirements and Difficulties
- Minimum character level is 90. The content is current, with no stat scaling down.
- The Raid Finder automatic queue requires an average item level of 220.
- Loot from bosses is bound to the character on pickup.
- The boss chest counts once per week per character on each difficulty separately.
- The twin dagger
Belo'melorn, the Shattered Talon drops from the same boss, so a single clear lets both the Rogue and the caster complete their model.
The item level of Belo'ren's Swift Talon depends on the chosen raid difficulty:
| Difficulty | Item Level |
|---|---|
| Raid Finder | 240 |
| Normal | 253 |
| Heroic | 266 |
| Mythic | 279 |
For collecting the appearance, difficulty does not matter — the model unlocks in your wardrobe the first time you obtain the dagger on any mode, after which it becomes available to all characters on the account whose class can wield daggers.
The Belo'ren Fight
Belo'ren is a phoenix chained to a platform in the center of the arena. The fight is built around the clash of Light and Darkness and serves as an introductory lesson to the raid's key mechanic. At the start of the fight, every player receives a "feather" of one of two polarities — Light or Dark; it halves the damage from abilities of the matching color. Mechanics must be soaked by players whose polarity matches the color of the effect.
Main abilities:
- "Converging Dark Light" assigns and swaps player polarities over the course of the fight.
- "Radiant Echoes" is a wall of Light and Dark orbs rolling across the arena; the group breaks it with players of the matching color, opening a safe corridor.
- "Light Immersion" and "Dark Immersion" strike marked players and leave pools that are collected by players of the matching polarity.
- "Guardian's Decree" is a cone strike on the tank: a mistake gives the boss a large damage bonus for the rest of the fight.
When the phoenix's health reaches zero, a short "egg phase" begins — the main window for dealing damage. This is when it pays to unleash Bloodlust and major cooldowns. To collect the transmog alone, Heroic and Mythic are not required: Raid Finder grants the same model with the same item ID.
Alternatives
Belo'ren's Swift Talon shares its silhouette and theme with other daggers from Midnight Season 1. If you are assembling the "phoenix" series or looking for a model close in shape, take a look at these items.
| Dagger | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Belo'ren, March on Quel'Danas | Dark blade with crimson fiery glow, agility | |
| Belo'ren, March on Quel'Danas | Same silhouette, but intellect — a caster's dagger | |
| Gorgerus, Midnight Season 1 raid | A close raid agility dagger with the same model template | |
| Fire Mage artifact blade, Legion | Kael'thas's flaming sword — the lore precursor to the entire phoenix theme |
Belo'ren's Swift Talon and Belo'melorn are a direct twin pair within a single raid: the first covers the Rogue's need, the second the caster's. If your guild has both classes, it is convenient to clear the raid once and split the daggers by primary stat.
Who It Suits Visually
- Sits well in the dark Midnight Season 1 Rogue leather sets dominated by black and crimson.
- Pairs with the twin
Belo'melorn, the Shattered Talon on a multi-class character: the identical base and different glow reference the Belo'ren fight itself. - Contrasts with Silvermoon's light sets in gold and white silk — a dark blade with a fiery glow adds drama to the look.
- Suits "phoenix" concepts paired with the
Ashes of Belo'ren mount from this same raid: weapon and mount come together into a single themed collection. - Convenient for Survival Hunters and Enhancement Shamans who wield the dagger as a one-handed weapon — the model stays recognizable even in fast animation.
Tips
1
Enter the raid weekly on the difficulty comfortable for your group. Loot resets every game Tuesday, and chances accumulate week over week.
2
If your goal is only the appearance, go for Raid Finder: it grants the same item with the same ID and unlocks the model in your wardrobe.
3
Use the Great Vault. For raid activity once a week you get an extra choice of items, and the dagger may drop from there.
4
On the Heroic and Mythic track, save up seasonal upgrade currencies to raise the dagger's level up to 289 by the end of the season.
5
If your group has a caster, coordinate runs: Belo'ren's Swift Talon and
Belo'melorn, the Shattered Talon drop from the same boss and share a single weekly limit.
6
Unlock the transmog right after you get it. Even if the dagger is weaker than your main weapon, equip it for a second — the model will enter your wardrobe and remain available on any future dagger for the character.
7
Subtlety Rogues should pick an off-hand blade of a similar silhouette: a symmetrical pair of daggers gives the strongest visual effect.
8
For a complete phoenix collection, add the
Ashes of Al'ar mount from Tempest Keep to the dagger — it is the most recognizable phoenix in the game, dropping from Kael'thas Sunstrider at roughly a 1.7% chance.
