Benediction — Transmog Set Guide

Benediction is a two-handed priest staff and one of the most legendary weapon models in the history of World of Warcraft. Its bright, radiant version is inseparably tied to its dark form, Anathema: the very same item switches between the two appearances with a right click, on a 30-minute cooldown. Benediction glows with a warm golden light and is seen as a symbol of a player of the Light, while Anathema is a crimson, shadow-wreathed staff for priests of darkness.

The staff dates all the way back to the classic version of the game and is obtained not from raid loot, but through one of the most famous priest class quest chains. That is exactly why it remains a point of pride and one of the rarest appearances: most modern players have simply never seen it in the flesh.

Benediction and Anathema are not a drop from a single boss, but the result of combining three items through a final quest. The source is entirely tied to the classic chain, available only in the Classic line of games.

To assemble the staff, you need to obtain three components:

• The Eye of Shadow drops from demonic creatures, including Lord Kazzak in the Blasted Lands. The item is bind on equip, so it can be bought at the auction house or farmed on another character.
• The Eye of Divinity drops from the cache of Majordomo Executus in the Molten Core raid. The item is bind on pickup, so it can only be acquired personally, with a raid group.
• Splinter of Nordrassil is the reward for the final quest, The Balance of Light and Shadow.

The final quest is given by the spectral Eris Havenfire in the Eastern Plaguelands, in the mountainous area between Terrordale and Stratholme. You can only see her while wearing The Eye of Divinity. The trial is a defense of villagers: you must save 50 people without letting fifteen die, healing them, dispelling diseases and fending off rising skeletons all at once. If a priest fails the attempt, Eris vanishes for two hours.

Once all three items are collected, right-clicking the Splinter of Nordrassil combines it with The Eye of Shadow and The Eye of Divinity — the three items disappear, and Benediction appears in their place.

• Anathema in its crimson tones fits dark sets of a priest of darkness and looks built around red and purple.
• Both forms look great with cloth sets of the classic era thanks to the shared styling of early WoW.
• The staff's unique glow makes it the centerpiece of an outfit — the rest of the gear is best kept restrained so as not to overload the silhouette.
