Overview

Blackthorn Harvester

Game iconBlackthorn Harvester is a two-handed staff of uncommon (green) quality, added to World of Warcraft with the release of Shadowlands. Visually, it is a dark shaft topped with a head of interwoven thorny branches and prickly vines — a model from the visual family of Drustvar, the gloomy swampy region of Kul Tiras. Despite the item's modest rarity, the silhouette with its curved, scythe-like head makes the staff a striking choice for themed looks.

In terms of stats, this is an intellect weapon with item level 155, intended for cloth and leather specializations — Mages, Priests, Warlocks, Shamans, Druids, Monks, and Evokers. It requires level 50 to equip. Today the staff's combat value is zero: it is interesting solely as a transmog appearance.

Source

The main way to obtain the appearance is to farm the staff in Ardenweald, the realm of the Night Fae in the Shadowlands.

  • The primary source is the rare creature Hunter Vivanna, found in Ardenweald. It is a single opponent, easily killed solo at the current level.
  • The staff also appears in the loot from caches and containers in Ardenweald, scattered throughout the zone.
  • There is no exact drop rate: the appearance comes as a random drop from the listed sources, so it may take several attempts.
  • Farming has no time restrictions — the rare creature and the containers are available again upon respawn.

The zone opens up over the course of the Shadowlands introductory campaign. If the campaign has already been completed, you can reach Ardenweald through Oribos, the capital city of the Shadowlands.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Suits gloomy "witchy" and druidic looks in dark-green and swampy tones — it echoes the theme of Drustvar and the Night Fae covenant.
  • Harmonizes with cloth sets in natural and shadowy shades — the vine-wreathed head supports a "forest" aesthetic.
  • Stands out in contrast against bright, light-themed sets: the dark shaft creates a debatable but expressive accent.
  • A good choice for reaper- or necromancer-style looks thanks to the curved, thorny head.

Tips

1

Before farming, make sure Ardenweald is unlocked: with an unfinished Shadowlands campaign, access to the zone may be blocked.

2

Hunter Vivanna is a rare creature with a timed respawn; if she is not on location, check the spawn point later or focus on the zone's containers.

3

The appearance is added to your appearance collection as soon as you obtain the item — you do not need to wield the staff for this.

4

It is most convenient to farm on a class with high mobility, so you can quickly travel between the rare creature's spawn points and the caches.

5

The gear is completely outdated in terms of stats, so once the appearance is added to your collection, the looted staff can be disenchanted or sold.

6

You can come for the appearance on any class: the item is only needed to unlock the look, not for use in combat.
