Get Blade of Necromancy
Overview

Blade of Necromancy is a one-handed sword of uncommon quality that hails from the classic era of World of Warcraft. Despite its modest item level, it has a memorable model: a slim blade of dark metal with a greenish, otherworldly sheen that reads perfectly as the weapon of a dark mage or necromancer.
The weapon is low-level, so it is interesting first and foremost as a transmog. It was introduced during the expansion that added the Dungeon Set 2 armor questline, and it is tied to the same content as that questline. The appearance unlocks account-wide as soon as you receive the item in your inventory.
Source
The Blade of Necromancy drops from Kormok, a summonable boss in the Scholomance dungeon located in the Western Plaguelands.
- Kormok does not appear in the dungeon on his own — he must be summoned manually in the room of Ras Frostwhisper.
- The summon is performed with the
Brazier of Beckoning, which is granted as part of the quest chain for Lord Valthalak's amulet. - The chance of getting the sword from Kormok is around 21%, which is fairly generous for a weapon with a unique model.
- The boss is designed for a low-level group, but on a character at the current max level (90 in the Midnight expansion) he is killed instantly while soloing.
- After he is defeated, Kormok disappears, and a new Brazier of Beckoning is needed for another attempt.
Who It Suits Visually
- Necromancer and dark-caster looks — the blade's greenish sheen echoes themes of undeath and decay.
- Armor sets from the Plaguelands dungeons — the sword pairs well with the grim palette of the Dungeon Set 2 collection.
- Reaper and cultist concepts — the slim blade looks great as a ceremonial rather than a combat weapon.
- Contrasting light-toned looks, where a dark weapon serves as an accent.
Tips
Pick up the quest from Lord Valthalak's amulet chain in advance — without the Brazier of Beckoning it is impossible to summon Kormok.
The route to Ras Frostwhisper's room takes time: on a current character it is easier to run straight through the dungeon, ignoring the regular enemies.
If the sword does not drop on your first try, repeat the chain for a new Brazier of Beckoning and summon the boss again.
On ranged classes it is more convenient to clear the path to the summoning spot without being distracted by the minions Kormok summons.
Check your bags before leaving: the sword must actually be received into your inventory for the appearance to unlock in your collection.
A single run unlocks the appearance account-wide, so there is no need to repeat the farm on other characters.
