Get Blade of Savagery
Overview

Blade of Savagery is an epic one-handed sword from The Burning Crusade expansion. It is a broad, serrated blade with a massive edge and a predatory silhouette: the sword model mirrors one of the very weapons that Mother Shahraz herself swings in battle. The cold metal with dark veining and the aggressive shape make it a striking melee weapon.
The sword suits any class that wields one-handed swords: warriors, paladins, rogues, demon hunters, as well as death knights. Thanks to its distinctive model, it has long been a coveted item for transmog collectors hunting for weapons in the style of the Illidan era.
Source
Blade of Savagery drops from Mother Shahraz, one of the bosses of the Black Temple raid. The raid is located in Shadowmoon Valley and belongs to The Burning Crusade expansion.
- Drop source: Mother Shahraz, the second-to-last stage of the raid before the Illidari Council and Illidan Stormrage.
- The sword's drop chance is high — around 25.5%, so the item usually drops within one or two clears.
- It binds to the character on pickup, so it cannot be passed to another player — the transmog unlocks for whoever loots the sword.
- You can enter the raid once a week per character: boss loot resets on a weekly cycle.
To reach Mother Shahraz, you need to clear the raid from the entrance: work your way to her through the previous bosses. At the current maximum level, this can be done solo without much trouble.
Who it suits visually
- It harmonizes with demonic and Illidan-themed sets from the Black Temple — the blade's dark metal echoes such sets.
- It fits looks in a red-and-black and dark-steel palette, where you need an aggressive accent on the weapon.
- It looks great paired with a second identical blade on a rogue or warrior who wields two one-handed swords.
- It contrasts with a paladin's bright plate armor — a debatable but memorable combination for a "fallen knight" look.
Tips
The optimal class for fast farming is a paladin or demon hunter, thanks to high mobility and survivability while clearing the raid.
Clearing solo up to Mother Shahraz at max level usually takes 10–15 minutes.
Remember the weekly lock: a single character can attempt to get the sword once a week, so use several characters to speed up the farm.
A single run through the Black Temple bosses also drops other valuable transmog, so a full raid clear is more rewarding than running only to Mother Shahraz.
The sword binds on pickup — decide in advance which character you want to unlock this appearance on.
If the sword hasn't dropped after a few weeks, don't despair: with a chance of around 25%, unlucky streaks happen, but on average the item is obtained very quickly.
