Get Blade of the Archmage
Overview

Blade of the Archmage is a one-handed sword from The Burning Crusade expansion. Despite the "sword" category, it is a short blade with a slender edge and a pommel shaped like a sapphire cut: the model is closer to a mage's ceremonial dagger than to a battle weapon. The item was originally designed as a reward for spellcasters — it carries Intellect and critical strike rating — so in transmog it fits the looks of mages, priests, and warlocks well.
The sword can only be obtained through reputation. This makes it relatively rare on servers: most players no longer return to the old Outland factions, and running into this appearance in a random group is nearly impossible.
Source
The blade is sold by a vendor for reputation and requires exalted standing with an Alliance faction.
- Vendor — Logistics Officer Ulrike, the supply chief of Honor Hold.
- Location — Hellfire Peninsula, the Honor Hold stronghold in the south of the zone.
- Vendor coordinates — around 56.6, 62.6.
- Exalted standing with the Honor Hold faction is required.
- The item becomes soulbound on purchase; it cannot be resold or traded.
- You can buy it any number of times as long as you have the gold, but the appearance counts toward your collection only once.
Reputation with Honor Hold is earned by killing Legion demons on Hellfire Peninsula, completing local quests, and clearing the heroic dungeons of Hellfire Citadel while wearing the faction's tabard. The easiest way to reach exalted is through the heroic dungeons.
Who It Suits Visually
- Pairs well with blue and silver cloth sets — looks in the spirit of a Kirin Tor mage.
- Harmonizes with the white and gold armor of priests thanks to the bright cut of the pommel.
- Stands out in dark warlock looks: a cold blue glint against purple cloth.
- Because of its small size, the blade fits a light, stealthy character rather than a heavy plate wearer.
Tips
The fastest path to exalted is farming the heroic dungeons of Hellfire Citadel with the Honor Hold tabard.
At level 80 and above, the zone's demons die instantly, so topping up reputation by killing mobs is risk-free.
Put on the faction tabard in advance: without it, reputation from dungeons is awarded at a lower rate.
Local quests on Hellfire Peninsula are good for finishing off the last few thousand points before exalted.
A single purchase grants one appearance; there is no need to buy duplicates for your collection.
Horde players cannot get this sword directly — they should head straight for Stormcaller in Thrallmar.
If you are grinding reputation for the appearance, also check the Honor Hold reward list: there are other weapons available from the same faction.
