Overview

Замораживающий кости молот

Game iconBonechill Hammer is a one-handed crushing mace from the classic era of the game. It is a compact mace with a massive head and a cold blue-steel palette that reads great up close and looks good in one hand on plate wearers and shield users.

The weapon carries an icy theme: when worn, it grants the chargeable "Frostbolt" effect, adding frost magic damage to the target. For transmog, what matters is the model and the frosty silhouette — the item's stats have long been irrelevant, and it is worn purely for appearance.

The hammer is low-level gear (level 17 required) and binds when picked up, so you need to collect it on the character who wants the look. It drops in one of the most atmospheric "dark" dungeons in Azeroth, which makes it a great choice for necromantic and frosty looks.

Source

The hammer drops from the boss Ras Frostwhisper — an undead lich, one of the bosses of the Scholomance dungeon, located in the Western Plaguelands.

  • Source type — a drop from a specific dungeon boss.
  • Drop chance — about 16%, meaning on average the item drops roughly every sixth or seventh run.
  • There is no limit on the number of runs: the dungeon can be cleared repeatedly, the only restriction being the dungeon reset (several entries in a row over a short time are locked for a while).
  • Difficulty does not matter — normal dungeon mode is suitable for transmog.
  • Binding — the item becomes personal when picked up, so it cannot be sold or traded.

The easiest way to reach the dungeon is from the Western Plaguelands: the entrance to Scholomance is in Caer Darrow, and it is convenient to get there via a teleport to the Eastern Kingdoms followed by a flight. The dungeon itself is large and multi-level, and Ras Frostwhisper is found near the end of the route, so plan the run as a full clear.

Who it suits visually

  • Suits looks for priests, death knights, and shamans with a frost theme thanks to the cold blue-steel coloring.
  • Looks good paired with a shield — the compact mace does not overload the silhouette and keeps the focus on the shield.
  • Harmonizes with the dark plate sets of the Plaguelands and undead-style outfits.
  • Contrasts with warm golden sets — a debatable but striking choice if you want to make the weapon stand out.

Tips

1

It is most convenient to farm on a melee character with high mobility — they quickly run through the multi-level dungeon and kill the bosses solo without trouble.

2

Since the item binds when picked up, enter with the character who needs the look.

3

Ras Frostwhisper stands near the end of the dungeon, so when farming, plan for a full clear rather than a quick run to a single boss.

4

A chance of about 16% means that over an evening of several runs the hammer usually drops — but if you are unlucky, budget for extra attempts.

5

Keep in mind the limit on the number of dungeon entries over a short period of time: do not do too many runs in a row, so you do not hit the lockout.

6

In a single run you can also pick up other dungeon weapons along the way — for example, the Rod of the Headmistress and the Bonecreeper Stylus from the final boss.

7

The hammer binds when picked up, so you cannot buy it on the auction house — the only reliable path is farming the dungeon yourself.
